Curriculum Update
Social Studies- We will continue our study of Reconstruction. The Reconstruction test will be given Wednesday, October 13th.
Math - We will continue our work with decimal numbers this week. We will be rounding, adding and subtracting, and multiplying and dividing decimal numbers.
Science - We will begin our unit on Inherited Traits and Learned Behaviors.
Writing- The students will be creating a piece entitled, "The Promise of Gwinnett". All pieces will be considered for a county writing contest. This is not for a grade. There will be a DG for a writing "on demand" piece. This is a 45 minute writing piece with the scoring will be based on the "Ideas" portion of the writing rubric.

PTA Great Days of Service!
We are excited to announce that the JES PTA and Counseling Department will be partnering with Gwinnett County’s Great Days of Service again this year.
Who can be involved: All Students!
When: Monday, October 17 – Friday, October 21, 2016
How: Send your child to school with canned goods (especially soups, proteins, and fruits), non-perishable food items (especially macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, and jelly), and personal care items (toothbrushes, shampoo, deodorant, and soap).

17th-21st: PTA Food Drive
26th-28th: ITBS testing
