HAPPY NEW YEAR from IAHPERD

I hope this newsletter finds all of you warm and excited for a NEW YEAR!!! As I type this the snow is falling and I find myself excited! It's not the idea of a late start or a snow day (well, it's always in the back of my mind), but rather the beauty of the season. I hope you've all had an a nice holiday with family and friends.

Many things have happened since our last newsletter. You'll see below that IAHPERD has hired a new Executive Director. Make that 2 executive directors. Congratulations to Jan Grenko-Lehman and Jennifer Schnell on their co-ed roles. Please read below and meet our new ED's.

We have been making plans and prepping an agenda for our January 18, 2015, executive board meeting. See later in the newsletter for those details. I am thrilled that Bob Nutgrass has agreed to be our parliamentarian for the meeting. That should help the meeting run smooth and faster.

The deadline for nominating a fellow teacher for a T.O.Y. award is JANUARY 31, 2015. Please see the section below for more details on nominations. This is an exciting award to recognized outstanding teachers in our state.

Plans are also underway for travel to Central District Convention in Moorhead, MN, February 5-7, 2015. It's not too late to register! Lots of good sessions, speakers and networking will happen at that convention. President-Elect, Ben Robison and new ED Jennifer Schnell are also planning their trip to Washington DC, for Speak Out! Day February 10-11, 2015.

Then it's on to NATIONAL CONVENTION in Seattle, Washington from March 17-21, 2015. As always, national convention is a week full of great sessions, meetings and to top it off, the delegate assembly on the final day. There is still plenty of time to register for this convention as well.

The tentative date for our legislative council meeting in April 12, 2015, in Oskaloosa.

There is lots of planning going on right now for our IOWA AHPERD JUNE 2015 convention. Please consider bringing, your golf clubs, bike, any disc golf equipment you have, swimming gear........... sounds like there is fun to be had!
