October News

We are well into the 2nd month of school and Fall is upon us. Thank you to our amazing students, staff, and families for working together to get us off to a good start!! We have several fun activities planned along with a solid academic focus.

This month we will have:

1. Parent-Teacher Conferences

2. Red Ribbon Week

3. Fall Festival

4. Kindness Week

This is a busy month, progress reports will be shared and sent out this week. Although, October is our conference month I want to encourage parents to feel free to contact our teachers if you have questions/concerns regarding your child's education. A parent can request a meeting with a teacher at anytime, we try our best to get back to you within 24-48 hours. We also want to encourage you to get involved and come volunteer in your child's classroom. Lastly, if you need support at home during a difficult time, a deployment or crisis situation, contact our school office to help get you the services an support you need. Together we can raise a village, one child at a time!!!

Middle School Student Lighthouse Team

Congratulations to our Middle School Student Lighthouse Team and Student Council Representatives. Our 2019-2020 Student Council is the following:

President- Serena Cardenas

Vice President- "AJ" Aiden Sablan

Secretary- Abigail Cardenas

Our first Student Lighthouse welcoming meeting is Tuesday, October 1st at 7:30 am. It will be hosted by Mrs. Rudolph, who is the Teacher Mentor overseeing the Lighthouse Teams. A huge thank you to Mrs. Rudolph and Mr. Pizzuto for holding interviews. An additional thank you to all of our amazing student leaders. Mr. Pizzuto will also co-chair the Lighthouse Team by leading the Student Council and organizing school spirit events. We have 6 different action teams that our students in K-8 will participate in. Every month we will highlight a new action team, their roles, and leadership positions. One of our Action Teams is a Broadcasting Team which will be led by Ms. Flaherty, our amazing STEM TOSA. That student team will work on monthly SOS Spotlight interviews/social media and Monthly Newsletter additions.

We are excited to get started and let our student leaders shine!! Thank you, students, for all your hard work and dedication to our school and students!!

KINDNESS Month at San Onofre School . #SanOPantherPride

MONDAY, Oct. 7th: “LINK UP” WITH A BUDDY

  • Today, nobody eats or plays alone!! Find a buddy, make a new friend... And be sure EVERYONE is included!

  • At lunch add a “link” to our kindness chain! Saw someone doing an act of kindness? Recognize them by including their name on the chain.

TUESDAY, Oct. 8th: SAY MY NAME, SAY MY NAME… SAY IT LOUDER

  • We are ALL important and special. Today, give someone a much needed “SHOUT OUT” and recognize them for being the special person they are. These will be passed out to them later in the week.

WEDNESDAY, Oct. 9th: INTERESTS ABOUND

  • Wear a t-shirt that shares something you are interested in or passionate about… maybe a favorite sport, movie, or color. Then find someone with the same interest as you and start a conversation!!

THURSDAY, Oct. 10th: PURPLE PRIDE

  • Purple Up Day isn’t until April, but we can always show pride in this military life. “Individually we are one drop, but together we are an ocean.” Students let’s create a “sea” of purple by wearing purple shirts!

FRIDAY, Oct. 11th: #SanOPantherPride

  • We are all on the same Mission: Lead by example, Encourage others, Achieve our goals, Respect each others’ differences, and Nourish relationships. Wear your favorite San O shirt or show up in San O colors to show we are all working towards the same goal.
