Principal's Message
Greetings everyone,
I hope all the Mums and Grandmothers had a lovely Mother’s Day on Sunday. I hope you got as much enjoyment receiving your gifts as the children got from buying them. It was lovely to see their excitement last week. Thanks to the PTA for giving our children the opportunity to buy gifts.
We had our school photos on Monday. Thank you for sending your children to school in a spick and-span uniform.
We are promoting Pink Shirt Day on Friday 19th May. Many schools support Pink Shirt Day. It’s an internationally celebrated anti-bullying campaign that encourages tamariki to wear pink to celebrate diversity and kindness. Here are some hints to help kids with Pink Shirt Day: Dayhttps://sparklers.org.nz/documents/352/6_Helping_Kids_with_PSD.pdf

The Church dedicates the month of May to Mary. Mary said “yes” to being the Mother of Jesus.
The tradition of dedicating the month to Mary started in the 13th Century. Originally it was set in May because, in the Northern Hemisphere, Spring occurs around this time bringing new life and renewal. In the same way, Mary gave new life to the world when she gave birth to Jesus. If you want to get through to Jesus, go through his Mum Mary because she wants nothing more than to bring you to her son Jesus.
This week we are celebrating the Feast of the Ascension. Kakano are hosting the Liturgy in the hall at 12:15 pm on Thursday 18th May. You are more than welcome to join us.
Next week on Friday 26th May at 9am in St Mary’s Church, we will be celebrating the birthday of the Church. This is also known as Pentecost or in Greek the 50th day. Apparently it was 50 days after Easter when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles. Pentecost is when the Apostles went out among the people and began spreading the message of Jesus, so establishing the beginning of the Church.
I hope you have a wonderful week.
Take care, God bless.
