2022-2023

Big picture

Be it known to all who enter here, that Christ is the reason for this school. He is the unseen, but ever present teacher in the classrooms, the model of its faculty, and the inspiration of its students.

What are School-Wide Learning Expectations?

School-wide Learning Expectations are defined as, “what students should know, understand, value, and be able to do by graduation.” At Our Lady of Las Vegas our goal is to develop active faith-filled Catholics who are life-long learners, effective communicators, responsible decision makers, and culturally aware/global citizens.

We believe that through meaningful and authentic learning experiences over time, students will become highly developed in these areas. Learners will be able to exhibit a culmination of their learning in a real world context that has significant purpose and meaning for them and others (adapted from Fontana USD). Our instructional program is driven by these learning expectations.

Acquisition of these Learning Expectations drives the instructional program and fully supports the operations and goals of our school.

School-Wide Learning Expectation of The Week: Effective Communicators Who Speak Well

By the time our 8th-grade students graduate from Our Lady of Las Vegas, they should be able to speak in a highly focused, coherent, and organized manner, clearly addressing the intended audience.

This week we will focus on how to speak effectively by using complete sentences and making eye contact.
