Masks are required for all people entering GPHS
Testing
Last month, Mike Morath, the commissioner of education told a reporter that parents may choose whether or not to send their students to school for state testing. However, he reiterated that all 5 EOCs would be required for graduation.
To ensure social distancing and follow CDC guidelines to safely test all students, GPHS will have campus-wide shutdowns on state testing dates.
Due to the lost instructional days from our recent winter storm, we will not have practice exams.
Shut-down dates can be found in the calendars below that are highlighted in green. Students who are not testing will work remotely from home.
You will be notified via email one week prior to any exams if your child is expected to come to campus to test.
EOC test primarily affect these grade levels:
9th grade = English I, Algebra, and Biology
10th grade = English II
11th grade = US History
** Students who have previously failed an EOC or completed a course in a different grade level will also need to re-test.

Prom 2021 - Letter from Dr. Moore
Dear Class of 2021 and Senior Parents,
The Class of 2021 is now well into the last semester of high school, and we know what an exciting time this is in the lives of our high school seniors and their loved ones! Although this year has been “different” from so many perspectives, please know we are committed to providing our 12th graders with as many "traditional" senior year experiences as current COVID-19 restrictions allow.
It is GPISD’s priority to provide the Class of 2021 with tentative plans for their senior year festivities, as early as possible and to the maximum extent possible. We recently communicated our graduation plans, and the next major Senior Class event being considered at this time is your prom. As you can imagine or have experienced, planning spring events is quite a challenge since the COVID-19 pandemic is still with us. We can only predict what safety measures and guidelines may be in place during Prom season. Therefore, we cannot commit to venues large enough to host our senior class celebrations.
With this in mind, our GPISD teams have been busy planning to ensure the Class of 2021 will have a prom this year. Plans are underway to host this year’s prom event at the GPISD Stadium. By using our own facilities and resources available to us, we can plan an event which remains in accordance with all the current and predicted safety measures and COVID-19 protocols recommended by local, state and national health authorities. During the event, we will enforce mandatory face masks, social distancing, and all other safety measures designed to keep us healthy and safe from the transmission of COVID-19 and other harmful viruses.
Your principal will be providing you with more detailed information about your prom in the very near future. We know the plans for many of your class activities, like prom, are “different”, but we ask you to help us embrace the uniqueness of your senior year and make these events what they’ve always been intended to be a great experience for everyone.
Sincerely,
John C. Moore, Jr., Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools

COVID Procedure Reminders
Arrival
In an effort to ensure proper social distancing, we ask that parents do not drop students off prior to 6:45am.
Any students who ride a bus and arrive before 6:30am will report to the cafeteria until 6:45 am. Staff members will monitor those students and make sure they are following all safety procedures.
Beginning at 6:45, all students will pick up breakfast to go from different locations and report directly to their 1st/5th period.
All teachers with a 1st/5th period will be at their doors monitoring that students are following the safety procedures as they walk to class.
Meals
Breakfast
provide breakfast at home if you do not want students to remove their masks or
students will get a grab/go breakfast from carts located throughout the hallway and eat in their 1st/5th period classrooms
Students are allowed to bring water bottles to school.
Breakfast will not be served in the cafeteria at this time.
Lunch
- Seats have been spaced out according to CDC guidelines. Students will be allowed to sit only in designated spots.
- All cafeteria lines will serve the same meal options (1 hot choice and 1 cold choice)
**Lunches may be moved into the classroom if social distancing is not an option in the cafeteria.
Rules & Procedures
At GPHS we will always wear a mask (the only exception is during meal times)
- When possible we will also maintain 6 feet of social distance
- In an effort to ensure proper social distancing all restrooms will be closed during passing periods. Teachers will allow students to utilize restroom facilities during class. The number of students leaving a classroom will be monitored closely.
Classrooms
Students will when possible, sit 6 ft apart in classrooms. As more students return to F2F learning, the distance between students will decrease.
Students must keep masks on at all times. (Exception = meal times).
Seating charts will be utilized in every classroom. Students are expected to sit in their assigned seat each day.
Individual teachers will establish classroom protocols that allow for social distancing and sanitization.
In the last few minutes of class, all desks, doorknobs, and common spaces will be sanitized with the disinfectant spray provided by the district.
As a Yellow Jacket family, we are all in this together! We must take care of one another!
Dismissal
- Any students who are remaining after school for practice or tutorials will meet their teacher at a designated location to be escorted back into the building.
