Student Handbook & Returning Student Information Forms

Student Handbook: Updates to the student handbook happen periodically throughout the year as we maintain this as a live document and encourage our students and families to access our website for the most current version. When this occurs, an updated date is included in the footer of the document and any revisions and updates are put into effect upon their addition to the handbook. Some of the recent updates added on 4/16/21 include the following:
  • Staff Titles
  • Student Privacy and Personal Information Notifications
  • Parental Notification Rights and Opt-out forms
  • Course Catalog Information

Returning Student Information Forms: All returning students should have received a packet with the following forms, which will need to be returned to the school office:

  • 2021-2022 student information form
  • Photo/digital image release form
  • McKinney-Vento form
  • Tennessee Parent Occupational Survey
  • Student handbook notice of receipt signature form (parent and student signatures required)

University School Key Club is raising funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities (Southern Appalachia) as our final community service project for the year. The mission of RMH is to provide a “temporary” home-away from home for children and families of seriously ill children receiving medical care in any local hospital.”

Please write checks payable to University School Key Club (with Ronald McDonald House Charities Donation in the memo line). We will write a check from our school account to present to them after all funds have been collected. Forward to Sharon Squibb at University School.

Thank you for your contribution to help others!

As we are getting close to the end of the year, we would like to highlight all of our 2020 graduates by doing a Senior Spotlight each day during the month of May. Please send Mrs. Erwin (our Webmaster) the information below:

  • College or Career Path Plans:
  • Favorite University School Moment:
  • A photo of you (please make sure that if it was taken by a professional photographer that you have permission for us to post it online and via social media platforms)

Congratulations to University School's Kindergarten Instructor, Ms. Dedra Lamb, who has received the University School 2021 Innovative Teaching Award.

Dedra Lamb's commitment and enthusiasm for kindergarten is contagious, and she has done an outstanding job keeping her students engaged and learning during this pandemic. Ms. Lamb loves her students and that is visible in everything she does. She has been an inspiration during this crazy year!!! Her creativity has been digital and in person. She has been a support system not only for students but their parents as well. Her dedication is unmatchable. She has made her students her number one priority while balancing pursuing her doctorate and having a family. Ms. Lamb exhibits all the characteristics of an innovative educator.

So very proud to have you as a Buc!

Congratulations to Dr. Partin and Mr. Honeycutt for receiving the Patriotic Employer Award presented by Dr. Jim Cross (ETSU Alum and Northeast TN Area Chair for the ESGR - Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve).

University School Director, Dr. Brian Partin, and University School Athletic Director, Mr. Dustin Honeycutt, were nominated by University School Track and Field Assistant Coach, Dr. Alan Cox, who mobilized to provide support for COVID relief. The first in ESGR's series of awards is the Patriot Award. An employee serving in the National Guard or Reserve, or the spouse of a Guard or Reserve member, may nominate individual supervisors and bosses for support provided directly to the nominating Service member and his or her family. The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.

So proud of Dr. Cox for his service and to our Administration for their support of those serving.
