Message from your Proud Principal

Happy New Year! We enjoyed welcoming students back to school from winter break! We are excited about the teaching and learning that is taking place at Parsons during 2022!

GCPS has three Digital Learning Days (DLD) scheduled on the following dates this semester: 1/25, 3/2, and 3/22. In preparation for DLDs, students who have a Chromebook checked out will take their Chromebook and charger home with them each day starting today. Students should bring the Chromebook and charger back to school with them in their backpacks each day. This will provide an opportunity for students to continue learning using their device at school as well as at home. At home students can access their teacher's eCLASS course page as well as programs to practice grade level AKS.

Students, staff, and visitors have done a great job coming to school wearing masks each day. In addition to wearing masks, the staff provides opportunities during the day to allow students to wash their hands. Hand sanitizer and other resources to disinfect and sanitize high touch surfaces are used to keep our students and staff safe. We have also transitioned to decreasing the number of students in the cafeteria and having students sit spaced apart while in the cafeteria. Due to the increase in community spread, for now, we are returning to limiting visitors in the school building.

Thank you for your support in helping us ensure each student at Parsons reaches his/her highest level of learning and for keeping our students and staff as safe as possible.

Your Proud Principal,

Laura Clark

Schoolwide Reading Program: Biblionasium

Just a reminder that our Schoolwide Reading Program is in full force. We began in September, and it will continue through the end of March. Each student must have 2,500 reading minutes entered by the end of March to qualify for the reading reward in May. Minutes must be entered into Biblionasium. There is a help video on Mrs. Britt's Media Center eCLASS page. We have a monthly competition among grade levels. We want all of our students at Parsons to enjoy reading for pleasure and develop a love for reading. Please encourage your student(s) to enter their minutes into Biblionasium each week. The parent letter from Curriculum Night is attached for further information. In addition, your student(s) can continue to participate in the reading programs offered at the Gwinnett County Public Library such as Grow Good Readers, Feed Your Brain, and the yearly Summer Reading Challenge using Beanstack.

Afternoon Transportation

All transportation changes must be made in writing. Whenever you need to make a change to your child's afternoon transportation plan, please complete an Afternoon Transportation Change Form in the front office no later than 12:00 PM the day of the change. We will utilize this form to create the appropriate afternoon transportation pass. Please remember the GCPS Bus Rule: no passes will be issued for play dates, birthdays, weekend sleepovers, etc. For security reasons, we DO NOT accept transportation changes through phone calls or emails.

Student Check Out

Anyone checking out a child must present photo identification and be listed in our system as someone able to have access to the student. If you need to make changes to your list of approved emergency contacts, you may make changes on the Parent Portal or stop by the office to update this information. As a reminder, students may NOT be checked out after 3:00 PM. For assistance in updating contact information on the Parent Portal, please visit
