Library Letter

October 2014

Teen Read Week is this month!

*Turn dreams into reality.*

What's your favorite teen book? Is it one you read as an adult or as a teen? Reading is such a critical activity for teenagers; it can influence their lives in so many ways. October 12-18 is Teen Read Week, a national program designed to bring awareness to the richness of literature for adoescents. To celebrate, let's have a door decorating contest!! Any class can participate, but I'll suggest 5th period just because there's a little extra time for the logistics. The theme will be: your favorite YA book. Prizes will include a Scholastic gift certificate, but I may get creative as well. Deadline: October 18!!

Mark your calendar now for March 7, the day of our first ever North Texas Teen Book Festival! We have over 25 authors booked, a great steering committee and many volunteers. Now we need the kids! Help us spread the word about this awesome and free event so we can pack the convention center!
