CIF Return to Play - COVID-19
California Department of Public Health Update
On Friday, February 19, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) published updated Youth and Adult Recreational Sports Guidance. In this guidance, the CDPH has approved outdoor high-contact sports (Orange Tier) to play in the Red or Purple Tiers, with an adjusted case rate equal to less than 14 per 100,000 under the following conditions:
All participants in these sports must agree to and sign this Informed Consent Form.
And
Agree to weekly Saliva testing with Healthy Davis Together (HDT) at the Vets Memorial Site. Test results made available within 24 hours of play.)
Currently, Yolo County meets this requirement that will allow outdoor high-contact sports to begin. Please find start dates for all sports on our website.
Limitation on Mixing - Formerly Cohorting
DJUSD strongly recommends that student athletes and coaches limit playing or practicing on two or more teams to the highest extent possible. However, DJUSD understands that mandating or restricting activities outside of the school environment and not under the direction of DJUSD, is outside of our purview.
In some situations students may be able to participate in more than one DJUSD sponsored athletic program at the same time as seasons overlap. Please contact the head coach of each sport you are interested in for information regarding specific situations.
Please find detailed FAQ's regarding team participation on our website.
CDPH Limitations on Observers:
DJUSD, in consultation with the Yolo County Health Department, will admit parents/guardians of student athletes for the strict purpose of supervision into home contests along with essential staff. No other fans or spectators will be admitted.
Essential staff may vary depending on the sport and contest.
CDPH Guidance:
Limit observation of youth sports (age 18 years and under) to immediate household members, and for the strict purpose of age appropriate supervision. This includes observation of practice and competition. Limit number of observers to ensure physical distance can be maintained, reduce potential crowding, and maintain indoor and outdoor capacity limits.
Consider video streaming of games so that they can be watched "live" from home.

When safe to return indoors, events in the gyms will resume and streamed.
COVID-19 Athlete Testing
Be sure to check out the “Proud Super Tester” incentive program from the partnership between the Davis Blue Devil Athletic Boosters and Healthy Davis Together!
DJUSD Athletics continues to encourage every athlete to take advantage of FREE COVID-19 saliva testing through our partnership with Healthy Davis Together. As athletic teams continue in small pod conditioning practices, other sports are approved for competition in earlier tiers, please help us keep our athletes, staff and community safe.
We have now advanced our ability to provide testing to all athletes through our partnership with Healthy Davis Together. Starting Monday Feb. 15, many on campus teams that are currently engaged in participation will start COVID-19 saliva testing as part of their practice. Healthy Davis Together has generously offered a no appointment option for DJUSD athletes as long as they have an HDT account set up. Please take a moment to create an account for your student athlete.
If you would like your DJUSD Student Athlete tested at Vets Memorial, there are two items to complete.
Please go to the Healthy Davis Together website at https://healthydavistogether.org/testing/ and register your child. Here are the directions.
Then go to the DJUSD website and fill out the DJUSD Minor COVID Testing Waiver (English) (Spanish). Please have your child bring the waiver to the Vets Memorial to have your child tested. Parents do not need to be present for testing once the waivers are on file.
If you have any questions, please email Heidi Perry at hperry@djusd.net
IMPORTANT - Please fill out the Waiver for Minors and turn in to your coach, the Athletic Office in person, located in the administration building of Davis Senior High School (Hours: Monday–Friday from 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.) or by emailing a copy to lwilliams@djusd.net
