Principal's Points
Greetings Baxter Family!
Our Capturing Kid's Hearts focus for the month of February is Kindness. Kindness is the ability and willingness to express care and compassion for others. Kindness is a choice to use our time, talent, and resources to better the lives of others and the world through genuine acts of love, compassion, generosity, and service.
Please join us in showing acts of kindness throughout the month of February!

REMINDERS
Early Dismissal Procedures
Parents/Guardians, please remember that you must come into the office and show your ID before your student will be called from class to leave early. We know time is of the essence but we must follow student check-out procedures. Calling the front office to say that you are on the way, will not expedite the check-out process.
Late Arrival Procedures
Parents MUST walk their students into the office after 7:30 a.m.
Attendance Reminders!
Tardies
Warning Bell: 7:20 AM
Tardy Bell: 7:30 AM
School begins at 7:30 AM Students should be in their seats at this time. Students arriving after the tardy bell rings must be accompanied by an adult to the front office, sign in, and receive a tardy slip.
Official Attendance Time
Attendance is “official” at 9:30
If your student is not in the building at 9:30 AM they are officially marked absent unless a doctor’s note is provided. Students arriving after 9:30 AM without a doctor’s note will be marked absent for the day.
When Do You Need an Excuse Note?
Please submit an excuse note any time your student is absent. You can enter an absence request through Skyward, email (submit to kori.ellis@misd.gs AND your student’s teacher), or a handwritten excuse note.
Please provide a doctor’s note after every office visit. These can be turned in at the front office or emailed to kori.ellis@misd.gs.

Capturing Kids' Hearts Focus for the Month is KINDNESS
Why focus on Kindness?
- Kindness boosts positive emotions. Acts of kindness create neural pathways that enhance feelings of well-being and the natural flow of feel-good endorphins and neurotransmitters.
- Kindness is self-replicating. When we perform an act of kindness, it is likely to encourage others to act in a similar way.
- Kindness reduces stress and anxiety. Kindness promotes positive relationships with other people. Anything that helps you to build bonds with other people helps decrease anxiety.

ALL THINGS BAXTER
STAFF SHOUT OUT to Mrs. Hendrix-1st Grade
We would like to recognize Mrs. Hendrix for making learning fun and engaging. My student likes to share with me all the new things he has learned in first grade. Mrs. Hendrix has fostered a love of reading and it’s been great to see my child become a more confident reader. Thank you for all you do, Mrs. Hendrix! We appreciate you!
