Roosevelt Bears...Dream BIG
May 2016
Inside Scoop from Skeen
Dear Roosevelt Families,
The end of the 2015-2016 school year is quickly approaching. I hope you will make plans to join us for some of our year-end traditions such as Meet Your Teacher In The Field and 5th grade graduation. You may have noticed a decrease in the number of phone calls you have received to remind you upcoming events at the school. This is due to some recent guidance we received regarding the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. As a result KCS will use automated phone calls only for purposes that are to protect the health and safety of students. At this point, it is our understanding that we can use e-mail and text messages to communicate school events, but we will no longer be able to use phone calls for this type of notification.
The teachers and administrators are preparing to start the placement process for the 2016-2017 school year. We spend a great deal of time making sure the students are placed in classrooms in an equitable manner to ensure a quality learning experience. The school will not accept specific teacher requests. However, we will consider requests regarding other issues. Some examples include the placement of family members (twins, cousins, etc.) either together or separately or separating friends that need independence. With this in mind, a parent or guardian may submit a written request directly to the office from now until - May 20. As a reminder, direct teacher requests will not be accepted. Place the letters to the attention of Ms. Nikki Skeen. If e-mail is more convenient for you, you may e-mail me at nskeen@k12k.com. Please contact the school at 857-2600 if you have any specific questions.
Finally, I want to thank you for entrusting your children to us this year. It has been our honor to watch them grow, learn, and mature. As a faculty and staff, we never lose sight of the trust you have placed in us. It is my sincere hope that you child's experience this year has proven us to be worthy of that trust. I wish each of you a wonderful summer as we begin planning to make the upcoming school year even better. Roosevelt Bears...Dream Big!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Skeen
