Senator Sanders' 10th Annual State of the Union Essay Contest
Because Senator Sanders knows that real change comes from the ground up, he created the State of the Union Essay Contest to engage young Vermonters in the political process. The contest is an opportunity for Vermont high school students to write a 250-500 word essay on a major challenge facing our country – and how YOU would solve that problem.
The deadline to submit an essay is January 8, 2020. Use this link to access the form to submit your essay.
A volunteer panel of teachers will review the essays and select the ten finalists. Senator Sanders will enter the essays of the finalists into the Congressional Record – the official archive of the U.S. Congress. He will also invite them to be interviewed about their essay topic, so their voices and perspectives can be included in his official videos and social media.
Watch the video below to hear from past winners.
