BHS GRADUATION INFORMATION
An Update from Barrington High School - April 28, 2020
Barrington High School Class of 2020 and their Families:
GRADUATION - MAY 29, 2020 VIRTUAL
While we have shifted our efforts towards developing a virtual graduation, we remain focused on creating a personalized graduation experience for each student and their family. Further, we plan to include all the traditional components of our Barrington High School graduation. This includes a prelude, composed of student artwork and performances, speeches from students and faculty members, presentation of diplomas, and the Senior Video. In addition, we are planning a special celebration for the Class of 2020. As previously shared, the release of the graduation video is scheduled for Friday, May 29th. The prelude will be released at 6 pm and the graduation ceremony will be released at 7 pm. More details about accessing the videos will be shared the week of graduation.
In preparation for the ceremony, each student will be scheduled to come to BHS wearing their cap and gown, during the week of May 18th. As part of their visit, each student will have two pictures taken by professional photographers to commemorate their graduation. Additionally, each student will be recorded receiving their high school diploma. These video clips, including the reading of each students’ name, will be edited together and shared as part of the graduation video. During this visit, strict social distancing protocols will be observed. With the exception of when students are being photographed or recorded, we will require students to wear a face mask.
Decision Day and Graduate Yard Sign
“Decision Day” has become an event that many of our seniors look forward to. While we are unable to have cookies and school banners, we can still have some FUN and CELEBRATE your decision! How, you may be asking? Decorate your vehicle with your decision whether it’s a college, trade school, gap year, military, university, or career. Show your decision on your car this Friday, May 1st.
Please decorate your car before you arrive at the BHS parking lot (it’s ok if you don’t decorate your car). Representatives from the PTO will take a picture of your car and you and give you a BHS Graduate Yard Sign in a curbside pick up. While on campus, we ask that you wear a mask and stay in your car for your safety and the safety of our PTO volunteers. Additionally, please plan to come during your assigned time slot based on your last name( 1-2 pm A-G, 2-3 pm H-N, and 3-4 pm O-Z). Enter the parking lot from HART Road, follow the cones leading you to the pickup area. Yard signs are FREE this year, as a special gift from the PTO. Thank you, PTO! We’re proud of you seniors! If you can’t make it Friday, don’t worry, you will have other opportunities to pick up a sign in the coming weeks.

Senior Recognitions
In addition to graduation, there are several other accomplishments that we plan to share virtually. During the first 15 school days in May, starting with Decision Day, on Friday, May 1st, we have planned a recognition for members of the Class of 2020. This includes recognition of the members of the Top 5% Wall, Senior Athletes of the Year, Senior Breakfast Speakers, Fine Arts Award Winners, and many other accomplishments. Keep an eye out for daily announcements of these celebrations starting Friday.

Prom and Senior Celebration
A number of seniors have asked about new dates for Prom and Senior Celebration. If social distancing and crowd size regulations are eased, we are tentatively planning to host Prom on August 1st and the Senior Celebration the following week. If we are able, this year’s Senior Celebration will be held at BHS. It will give students an opportunity to say goodbye to teachers, sign yearbooks, and gather as a class one more time. More details will be shared about these events in the coming weeks.
