CMS Finalists in Governor's App Challenge
CMS students Braxton White, Kaden Glimpse, and Caitlyn Donohue have been selected as finalists in the Governor's App Challenge. These students, along with other teams and individuals from Cullman Middle School worked with technology integration specialist Aimee Bates to develop apps using Code.org's App Lab. The app these three students developed is an Electronic Dance Music (EDM) Christmas Jukebox. All of the CMS students that participated worked hard and learned a lot. Wish these students luck as they present their app in Montgomery next Tuesday for a chance to win up to $1,000!
The Governor’s App Challenge is a statewide, computer programming competition for Alabama students, in grades K–12, with the goal of giving more students the opportunity to gain recognition for their mastery and application of computer programming and design.
Happy Birthday Shakespeare!
These English 12 students in Mrs. Johnston's class celebrated William Shakespeare's birthday this week by eating goodies and concluding their study of Macbeth.
CMS Spring Concert
The Spring Concert by 6th, 7th and 8th band grade students will be Monday, April 29th at 7:00 p.m. at the CHS auditorium.
Powtoon Power
6th grade students at WES learned about a powerful presentation tool this week. Sharon Drake joined the students in Mrs. White's classes to introduce Powtoon. Students will be using Powtoon to present a book report, but many of them were excited about how they might use it outside of the classroom! One student is already making plans to advertise his lawn mowing service!
Civil Rights with Google Slides
Fourth grade students in Lea Casey's class at EES were sharing their Civil Rights presentations using Google slides this week. Google Slides is a new tool for many of these students. They created amazing presentations. So proud of how quickly our students master these Google tools!
Celebrating Earth Day
CCPS celebrated Earth Day this week with a number of activities. One of the cutest was recognizing their secretary, M'Kori Johnson, as the BEST SECRETARY on EARTH.
