Mrs. Foulk's News

10/2/15

Reading Reponse Journals:

I will be sending our Reader's Response Journals home NEXT Friday (10/9). Students will be required to mark how many minutes they read each day. They need to read for 60 minutes a week. This could be broken down into reading 15 minutes an evening, four days a week. The response journals are due by the following Friday. Students need to bring their journals to school EVERY DAY. I will use their responses as a discussion point during our individual reading conferences. Students also need to have four responses per week. Responses should have correct capitalization and punctuation. A "good" response is typically four-five sentences. Some kids write way more than that.

Next Week:

Math:

We will finish our unit on addition and subtraction and move to our third unit. This unit focuses on finding the perimeter of objects.

Writing:

Students will make final revisions and edits on their personal memoir. They will then publish their writing piece.

Reading:

Students will be exploring the genre of "Periodicals". If you have any old magazines or newspapers at home to donate to our class (please make sure the content is school appropriate), please send them anytime next week.

Science

We will be completing more science investigations during our science period. Pictures coming soon!
