What's Up in the Tech World
Will we ever have cooler weather? Maybe.....
I have tried to break up the newsletter a bit by topic. Hopefully, this makes it easier to read the information that interests you and skip anything that doesn't.
I will be on Lower Campus on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. The rest of the week, I will be with Upper.
If give students an assignment that includes a technology component that students are not familiar with, you need to spend a few moments teaching the skill or invite me to come by and teach them. An example would be: Tammi Burris spends part of a class period teaching students to enter data into an excel chart and create a graph from the data.
Quick note about a Google Docs Upgrade: Google released a new Google Drive feature that will automatically replace the old file with the most recently upload version. The original upload will be moved to revisions and the updated version will be the one that you see in your Google Drive. Of course, if you prefer to have multiple copies, you can still keep both files by simply selecting "keep as separate file" when you upload new versions.
I have included a link to a great resource full of teacher guides that can be used with StoryBoardThat. Teachers can create a free trial account. I believe it is somewhat limited but still a great tool to have students storyboard.

Reading two texts with a similar theme, topic, or other element, can help move your students towards reading and comprehending more complex texts: K-12th Grade Paired Texts & Question Sets Each pair comes with questions that explore the relationship between the two texts. To find the paired text of a passage, go to the passage page and click the green tab labeled “Paired Texts.” You can find the paired text questions on this tab as well.
