Dino-Mite Book Fair: Stomp, Chomp & READ!
The Book Fair continues this week with the following hours:
Monday, March 11 - open from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm
Tuesday, March 12 - open from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm AND from 3:45 pm to 6 pm
Wednesday, March 13 - LAST DAY! - open from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm
We need volunteers to help with the Book Fair. Please consider signing up for an hour or more to help the students fill out their wish lists (for grades K-2) and locate books that interest them. Click on the following link to sign up: www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c4daaaa29a75-book2 There are four ways to purchase items at the fair: cash, check payable to PUE PTA, credit card, and eWallet. Parents are able to set up a fund for their child/children to shop using eWallet. Any unused money is returned to the parent/not charged to their card. Dino Eggs & Patties Breakfast
The Dino-Mite Breakfast was a huge success! Over 170 students and parents visited the breakfast and book fair on Friday morning. There was even a guest dinosaur spotted walking around the Cafeteria and Media Center. We hope all the families enjoyed themselves!

5th Grade Maeley Roach 2018-19 Pleasant Union Spotlight on Student
She is a genuinely kind person and lifts everyone up around her whether she knows them or not. She also volunteers over track out to come in and help teachers tracking in. We wish her the very best at the March 26th Board of Education recognition meeting.

WAKE RELIEF FOOD DRIVE
Pleasant Union is continuing its Food Drive for Wake Relief through Friday, March 22nd. Every morning during arrival time there will be a table in the front lobby with eager students waiting to take, organize, and record your donations! Wake Relief will take any non-perishable items you would like to donate but below there is a list of items they are always in need of and can use:
- Canned Tuna, Chicken, Meat
- Green Beans, Beans, Green Peas, Mixed Vegetables (Carrots or Spinach),Corn
- Toilet Paper, Bar Soap, Detergent
- Misc. Items (Canned and Boxed) Cereal, Grits, Mac & Cheese, Crackers, Pasta Noodles, 1 Pound Bags of Rice, Soup, Fruit, Peanut Butter, Boxed Milk
Again, please feel free to donate any non-perishables that you can think of.

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE WEEK OF March 11, 2019
Welcome back, Track 2. We hope you had an enjoyable track out.
Ilustrator Vanessa Brantley Newton visits Pleasant Union:
Illustrator Vanessa Brantley Newton will visit PUE on Monday, March 11. Students will come to the GYM at the following times for an assembly. Track 1 students are also invited at their respective time with their parent to participate.
- 9:30-10:30 Kindergarten and 1st Grade (Kindergarten arrive at 9:25, 1st arrive at 9:30.)
- 10:45-11:45 4th and 5th Grades (4th arrive at 10:40, 5th arrive at 10:45.)
- 1:15-2:15 2nd and 3rd Grades (2nd arrive at 1:10, 3rd arrive at 1:15.)
BOOK SIGNING: 2:15-3:00 in the Media Center. Students will be called to the office according to grade (kindergarten first and 5th grade last) if they purchased a book. Mrs. Fry will provide a list of students that have purchased books to teachers.
PUE Yearbooks On Sale
Pleasant Union's yearbook is now on sale! Information about all the packages and options has already gone home in Tuesday folders. All 1st Grade Parents!!
First Grade parents will be hosting a staff appreciation breakfast on April 12th, 2019. Please make your 1st grader's annual donation to their teachers lunch by accessing the following link: http://pueschool.corecommerce.com/staff-appreciation-monetary-donation/.
PIECES OF GOLD:
Congratulations to Ms. Freer and the PUE Chorus for an OUTSTANDING performance at the Duke Energy Center on Thursday night. There were many staff members there to cheer them on and we are so proud! Thank you, Ms. Freer, for all of your hard work and the extra time you spend to showcase PUE talent for our Community.
NCTIES State Technology Conference:
Congratulations to the 5th grade team for an informative presentation at this year's NCTIES conference held at the Downtown Convention Center. Mrs. Boose, Ms. Haley, Mr. Schoenebeck, and Mrs. Woronka had the crowd eating out of their hands.
SPRING PICTURES- Spring Pictures will be taken Friday, March 15th for tracks 2 and 4. Ms. Britt will send out a picture schedule early next week.
FIRST IN FITNESS- Mr. Stern and PUE's First in Fitness Team will compete off campus Wednesday, March 13, 2019. Thank you Mr. Stern and team for your hard work and we wish you luck at the games!

Spring Fling Three Weeks Away
The 2nd Annual PUE Spring Fling is only 3 weeks away. The Sunday, March 31st event will run from 2pm-5pm. Go to MORE SPRING FLING DETAILS to find out more about the event.
Did you know that by being a volunteer that you could be in a drawing to win Disney World Park Hopper Tickets. See the Info Flier above for details. Thank you to also to the parents that that have already volunteered to help with making this a successful event. For info on how your child's class can contribute to the auction go to Spring Fling.
Please remember that the auction will go live 1 week before the Spring Fling and run 1 week after the event until Sunday, April 7. This will give Track 2 some more time.
Below are the auction details:
- The Auction will go live Monday, March 25th (instead of March 18)
- Information needs to be submitted via the Google Doc by: March 15 (Tracks 1, 3 and 4) and March 22 (Track 2). It was previously communicated March 8 and March 15th, respectively.
- Items will still only be accepted on Friday, March 29.
