My Birthday
Thank you for all of the wonderful gifts and cards the kids brought to celebrate my birthday! You all are so very kind to think of me.
Math
We have been working on long division in math. The students are really improving with their division skills. However, there are a few of us that still need to work on memorizing multiplication facts. We will jump right into fractions when we return for the winter break.
Language Arts
The halls are looking quite Grinchy in the fourth grade hall. Students created their own Grinch and wrote about their Grinch's adventures. The kids did a great job. When we return from the break, we will turn our focus to preparing for the STAAR writing test. Students are required to write a personal narrative and an expository text for this test.
Science
We have just finished studying circuits, conductors and insulators during class. Students created several projects using circuits. This week we will be completing several Winter Wonderland experiments that should be fun and educational!!
Social Studies
As we begin studying the settling of Texas, students have been introduced to the three C's and the French guy, otherwise known as, Cebeza de Vaca, Coronado, Cortes and LaSalle. We will then study the empressarios who began settlements filled with American citizens.
