Hello Gingko Families!
Started our Studio in a School clay unit by exploring clay with Studio Sara. We pinched, twisted and rolled. We noticed the clay changing and hardening as we worked with it.
Continued talking and learning about families. We read books about families including And Tango Makes Three and So Much! We wrote a list of family structures and types of families.
We also did a family art project in which we drew members of our own families, cut them out and then created collages as backgrounds to paste them onto. Some kids are still working on these; we will hang them in our classroom once they are all done!
Visited Fort Greene Park in the snow! It was so exciting and beautiful to see our special spot in the park covered in snow.
Learned a new song with the Beech Class! We went over to the Beech Class where Rasha played guitar and taught us the words to All I Really Need. We sang in the Beech classroom twice and invited the Beech Class to the Gingko classroom on Friday to sing again!
Started writing our own family books. During writing, we thought about things we like to do with our families and began writing our own books. We added to these books over a couple of days and will continue adding to them over the next few days.
Learned the Sounds in Motion for “p” and “h” and wrote our “p” and “h” books.
Continued sharing "snack dates." We asked friends we haven't spent much time with to have snack with us. We wrote a list of conversation ideas and starters together and spent time talking to friends we'd like to get to know better!
