Look What We Are Learning:

English/Writing

  • Persuasive Essay
  • Conventions: adverbs and pronouns
  • Review: Commas, homophones, and contractions


Math - We started off the week with the basics of fractions and are now working on adding fractions with unlike denominators.


Reading - We will continue our unit on Reading to Understand Informational Text. We will continue analyzing organizational patterns in text. We will also be learning about Main Idea and supporting details. Our vocabulary words for the week are precise, demonstrate, and access. Homework will go home on Monday and is due on Thursday. It is titled "A Floating Palace". They should also be reading a minimum of 20 minutes each night. There will be a quiz on Friday over the vocabulary words in their word study journal. They made study cards for them last Friday.



Science - Students will be wrapping up alternative energy. We will begin talking about our next unit on how the earth's surface changes and fossils. Students can bring their devices on Friday to use during our class game.


Social Studies - We began the Constitution and will analyze its parts including the branches of the government.


Butler's Social Studies Class: American Revolution (Cause & Effect), Founding Fathers, Paul Revere, and the Declaration of Independence. Quiz on Friday - study the interactive journals for the quiz.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We are finding that some students are out of or either not bring the following supplies to class:

  • pencils
  • colored pencils
  • glue
  • scissors

Can you please help us make sure that they have all their supplies for class?
