A Message from the PTO
Chocolate Bar Update
Due to shipping delays we have been informed that our chocolate order will not be here until Tuesday. We apologize for any issues this may cause. If anyone has already asked for another box and would like to cancel that please email us with the students name and teacher. As soon as we have the chocolate in our possession we will get them to your students. Because of the delay we have decided to extend our sale until Friday, October 20th and give ample time to sell enough boxes to get that golden coop or 5lb chocolate bar! Thank you for supporting our Nighthawks.
Band/Orchestra Instrument Reminder
If your instrument is taller than Ms. McLean, you cannot bring it on the bus. If it's bulky and cannot easily sit on your lap, it cannot be on the bus. Please make sure if your child rides the bus normally, arrangements are made either after school the day before lessons, or the morning of lessons, to get their instrument here some other way.

Red Ribbon Week
P2 Trait of the Week: Being Present and Giving Others My Attention
Dear Families,
This week our school community will be focusing on the Other People Mindset of Being Present and Giving Others My Attention. This means when I’m with other people, I’m present and give them my full attention.
This element of the Other People Mindset is so important today due to the increasing number of distractions vying for our time and attention. Phone calls, text messages, emails, social media notifications all have the dangerous capacity to pull us away from the present moment and, what’s most important -- our relationships with other people.
Just like plants need sunlight to grow, our relationships need attention. If we don’t give our attention to the people we’re building relationships with -- whether family members, close friends, or even distant colleagues -- we can’t build those relationships. It’s vitally important that we pick our heads up from our cell phones and truly listen to other people when they’re talking. A positive culture is built on positive relationships -- and we can’t build positive relationships without attention.
To practice and encourage the character strength of perspective with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you will watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions.
Have a wonderful week!
