Week 2!
Overall our students did an excellent job last week following our new cell phone policy and we appreciate everyone's support! We are already noticing a huge improvement in student engagement and time on task! This will lead to great benefits for all of our students including maximized learning time, student achievement, and less social media drama in school!
Overall the implementation of the dress code is going well too! Please review these reminders with your child:
-NO Mid-drifts showing
-Pants must sit at the natural waistline
-No head coverings are permitted in school unless religious
Our PBIS committee is looking for parent input! Please complete this survey! Our PBIS team plans incentives and support for our students. PBIS stands for positive interventions and support and helps our students with attendance, academics, and behavior. We would love to hear from our parents!
Clubs will be starting up soon! Please have your child check their email for more information to come! You can also check out the CRHS website for club information!
This is also a reminder to guests visiting the Colonel Campus for games and events. Consuming alcohol, smoking, vaping, or chewing tobacco is prohibited on school property, this includes the parking lot!
Students and Parents/Guardians please be reminded that the school doors open at 7:30 am and the late bell is 7:40 am now. All students must be in their classroom and unpacked (backpacks in lockers) by 7:40 to be on time! Please see the attendance information below for more details regarding students' absences.
As always please call or email if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Nikki VonDenBosch
CRHS Principal
STUDENT ATTENDANCE
Senior Spotlight Class of 2023
Week of September 6
Hello Seniors and Families!
I am the graduation coordinator for CRHS. I will send updates via this weekly newsletter and will also post important information outside of my office in the back hallway of the school. Seniors and families should check their email regularly (turn on notifications if you do not check regularly) and follow CRHS on social media to be sure to stay up to date on all news regarding graduation.
For now, please mark your calendars:
Cap and Gown Packages: October Jostens will visit the school in October (date TBD) to share information about ordering cap and gown packages. Class rings can also be ordered at this time. My goal is to have all cap and gowns ordered by December 31. The price increases after January 1.
Graduation Rehearsal: Tuesday May 30 Seniors should plan on being in school ALL DAY for this event. A light breakfast will be served, then the ceremony will be rehearsed. Seniors will have their class photo taken, watch the senior slide show, and then celebrate one last time together at the Senior Lunch. Graduation tickets will be distributed following lunch. Please do not schedule any appointments and do not plan to go to work during the day, as all seniors are expected to attend. A lot of time, money, and planning goes into making this day a fun one for the seniors and we want them all to be able to enjoy it.
Graduation: Wednesday May 31 6pm This is a ticketed event. Families and friends not able to attend in person will be able to watch the ceremony via livestream. Information about this will be shared through email and social media closer to May 31.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at france.bernadette@ccpsstaff.org.
Character Counts Quote for September- Pillar of Caring
From the CRHS Wellness Committee:
The CRHS Wellness Committee would like to encourage a minute of daily meditation for the month of September.
Meditation is a great way to bring intention and reset to a busy day! There are many health benefits to meditation even in small increments. Here are a few links to help get started.

Nurses Notes by Cindy Saathoff BSN, R.N.
September is National Cholesterol Education Month, "Know your cholesterol numbers, know your risk." Research has shown that lowering your cholesterol can reduce the risk of developing heart disease. Coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death, illness, and disability in the U.S.
Here are three simple steps to help reduce your risk:
1. Choose foods that are low in saturated fat, trans fat & cholesterol ie: lean meats, fish & poultry. Do not eat more than 4 eggs a week and eliminate fried foods. Roast, bake, broil or grill your foods instead.
2. Get active! Walk for 30 minutes every day or break it into (3) 10-minute segments.
3. Quit smoking! Smoking can work with cholesterol and harden arteries which leads to heart disease.
Some of the biggest choices that you face in life are about your health. Now is the time to take charge of your health by eating better and being more physically fit.
Remind your teens to eat breakfast every day. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and provides the necessary fuel to start their day of learning. It has also been proven that it improves memory, behavior, and can lower health risks.
Regulations remain the same for medication administration. A new form is needed every year. Prescription and over-the-counter drugs cannot be administered without an authorization form completed by the physician and the guardian. Contact the health room at 410-479-3612 or have your child stop by and pick up a form.
The School-Based Wellness Center is available at Colonel Richardson High School! Services provided in the Wellness Center are sick care, follow-up for acute health care needs, prescriptions, mental health, and oral health prevention.
