Family Newsletter

January 6, 2022

Dear Erickson Families,

Welcome Back and Happy New Year! I am looking forward to an awesome 2022 with the Erickson community. Each new year I choose one word to live by and focus on. My 2021 word was GRATITUDE. This year my word is PATIENCE: Patience with my own children, patience with covid protocols, patience with myself, etc. I will look for the positives in every situation to

keep me grounded and patient. This is a great conversation to have with your children. What would their one word be for the year and how can they continually check to see if they are living true to their one word?

Reminder: Noon (12:00) dismissal is January 14th. Monday, January 17th, is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and there is no school.

  • January 14, 2022, Noon (12:00) Dismissal for students in 1st grade - 5th grade.
  • Morning Kindergarten and Preschool will dismiss at their normal time.
  • Afternoon Kindergarten and Preschool will meet at their normal time.

We continue to follow Covid Protocols: social distancing, hand washing and mask wearing. Please make sure to keep symptomatic students home.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, comments, or feedback. The best way to reach me would be via email or phone: or 630-529-2223.

Have a wonderful week!

Stacy Johnston

The Backpack is filled with flyers and information from various organizations located throughout Bloomingdale.

Winter Weather: Please Dress for the Weather

Winter Weather: Erickson students have outdoor line-up and spend recess outside when the temperature, including WIND CHILL, is 10 degrees Fahrenheit or above. Students may play in the snow during recess if they are properly dressed in winter gear, which includes a winter jacket, snow pants, hat, gloves, and snow boots.

If a student is healthy enough to attend school they are also healthy enough to go outside for recess. A doctor’s note is needed in order for a student to stay in at recess.

Pop Tab Collection

Consider saving pop tabs over the holidays and throughout the month of January! We will then donate the pop tabs to the Ronald McDonald House in Winfield.
