need to know
Middle School Parent Information Evening via Zoom on Tuesday, September 21 between 6:30-8:45 p.m. Meet your son’s teachers and hear about each course he will be taking. Please see the evening’s schedule for all zoom links. Presentations will be made in 15 minute intervals by department and teachers will be reviewing Grade 7 Course Descriptions and Grade 8 Course Descriptions that you are invited to review in advance. Students are not expected to attend these zoom presentations.
Before attending the Parent Information Evening, you may find it helpful to review your son's class schedule so you're familiar with who his teacher's are. This can be done via your OnCampus parent profile, by selecting your son's name and viewing his courses under the Progress tab. OnCampus log-in instructions/reminders are available here.
Truth & Reconciliation Week - September 27 - October 1:
During the week of September 27 to October 1 the school will be engaging in learning opportunities and activities based on the themes developed by the National Centre for Truth & Reconciliation. Students and teachers will discuss the term reconciliation and will honour the lives lost from Canada’s residential school system on September 30 by wearing orange shirts.
Students may wear ANY orange shirt on September 30 with their uniform pants and proper dress shoes.
This year, our Indigenous Student Committee designed a new T-shirt. You may purchase a shirt via this Google Form and it will be delivered to your son’s classroom within 48 hours.
All proceeds will go towards family support programs at Step by Step in Kahnawake. If you have any questions, please contact Courtney Prieur, Director of Experiential Education.
Clubs and Activities for Middle School Students: We are excited to start offering clubs, extra-curricular activities (ECAs), committees, intramurals and tutorials to the Middle School students. View the list of School Life Opportunities that are available now. All of these “extras” are optional and require no long-term term commitment. We encourage all students to try new activities and get involved in the activities that interest or intrigue them. More opportunities will be added throughout the school year.
Phys. Ed. Selection for the Winter Term: At this time, we ask families to review the options presented in this Winter Phys. Ed. options Form. Every Middle School student should indicate his preferred phys. ed. options for the November - February winter term by submitting this form by Wednesday, September 22. (Even hockey players already engaged in pre-season training are asked by their coaches to complete this form.)
Volunteer Opportunity: Are you looking to make a difference in the life of an isolated senior citizen? Selwyn House and Contactivity Seniors Program have a special intergenerational partnership that allows seniors and youth to connect in a variety of ways. Here’s how you can get involved.
