Manitou Springs High School

Mustang News - December 3rd, 2021

From The Principal...

I sincerely hope that everyone had a relaxing Thanksgiving Break. It was nice to return to the high school with students and staff refreshed and ready to take on the next three weeks of winter sports and activities, final exams (schedule included below), and the end of the semester. We kicked off the winter sports season with Wrestling, Basketball, and Swim/Dive representing the Mustangs in their first competitions of the season. Our orchestra performed their winter concert and, through music, helped our community find the spirit of togetherness. The Knowledge Bowl Team hosts their first home meet of the season tomorrow, and we will be rooting for them. Now we are just wishing for snow to truly make this time of year complete.

PSAT/NMSQT reports will be available for students on December 7th. If students provided an email on their PSAT test, then they will receive an email with an access code. If students did not provide an email they may go to studentscores.collegeboard.org and login to their College Board account to view their scores. College Board no longer sends out paper reports.

Beginning December 6, all juniors can become eligible for scholarships by completing college planning steps on BigFuture. Juniors will be automatically entered into monthly scholarship drawings for $500 and $40,000 when they either build a list with six or more colleges or start practice for the SAT. The more steps students complete and the earlier they start on BigFuture, the more chances to win. Learn more at bigfuturescholarships.org

From The PAC...

PAC needs YOUR help! We are asking parents to donate gifts; gifts to fill our holiday stockings for our amazing staff members. These items can include, but are not limited to, homemade gifts, cookies (which need to be individually wrapped), ornaments, black sharpies, highlighters, expo markers, tea bags, coffee pods, hot chocolate, candy, trail mix or
beef jerky! Another option, see if your favorite place would love to contribute coupons. We have 150 stockings to fill to cover all the teachers, staff, and support workers at the MS, HS, and SILC. We need 150 of each item donated, so we can equally share the joy! If you can't donate all 150 that's ok - contact me and I can pair you up with someone else.

Donations can be dropped off at your choice of the MS or HS Office, clearly marked for PAC / Stockings. Cash donations can also be accepted, and we will use them to buy anything needed.

Donations are needed no later than December 13th so we can fill the stockings and distribute to staff before break.

Our staff is amazing! Let's support and gift these wonderful people that work with our children daily!

Please email or text me with your donations or questions...
