Home of the Stars
Welcome Back!
Things have been going great in the library this first week back. Library cards are being reorganized. Displays are up. Virginia Reader's Choice books are getting added into the system.
I'm excited to start looking at Project Based Learning this year even more with our staff. Together, we will make some memorable learning for our students.

Volunteers in the Library
Volunteers are essential to the flow of the library.
Now that we have a library schedule, I will be sending out flyers for volunteers as well as a Keep In Touch. Keep an eye out for them.
Read alouds
Looking for a good read aloud?
Reading aloud to children helps them develop and improve literacy skills -- reading, writing, speaking, and listening. And since children listen on a higher level than they read, listening to other readers stimulates growth and understanding of vocabulary and language patterns.
FREE Professional Development
Did you know that Intel is offering free professional development to teachers?
VDOE provides six-week facilitated online courses through a grant with Intel. These professional development courses are available to educators in Virginia at no cost. The courses are conducted all online (no face-to-face meetings needed) and take approximately 30 hours, or 5 hours per week, to complete. The courses are facilitated by Virginia educators. Participants will receive a certificate at the end that can be used towards 30 recertification points.
