Principal's Corner
Dear BHMS Families,
It’s been another great week of learning and instruction at Beacon Hill. We want to thank our students for engaging in their work and taking ownership of their learning. We also want to thank our parents for your continued support of Beacon Hill.
We want to give a big shout out to “Safe Routes to School” for their support in Beacon Hill’s first International Walk and Roll Day on Wednesday. The majority of our students walked or biked to school and were greeted with stickers, pencils, and most importantly smiles from members of SRTS.
Our next Principal’s Coffee Chat will be in person Friday, October 28, 2022 at 9:00. This particular Coffee Chat will center around information on Math Pathways for the 22-23 school year, and a general Q&A session. Submit your questions for the Q&A here

BHMS News You Can Use
BHMS Will Host Our Saturday School This Saturday, October 15, 2022.
This program was developed to provide more accessibility to our building and teachers outside of the typical school day. Saturday School may be right for your student if they:
Have missed school and have work to complete
Need to redo or rewrite an assessment to show mastery
Need tutoring in ELA, math, science, or I&S
If your student meets one of those characteristics above, their teacher may have invited them to join us from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. If you would like to self-register your student, please complete the attached form.
Students Learn Archery Skills In Adventure Quest
6th and 7th grade students have been participating in archery the past couple of weeks, and Mr. Thomas joined in the fun! This mini-unit is an extension of their Camping 101 Summative, which requires students to plan a weekend camping trip to a GA State Park. Students learn that camping overnight is not required to participate in many of our GA State Parks various activities and events, which includes archery.
6th Grade Students Visit with Korean War Veteran Dez Rubano
6th Grade I&S Gold Team had Korean War Veteran Dez Rubano as a guest speaker this week. Mr Rubano discussed the importance of democracy and the power of the vote to the 6th grade audience. He also talked about World War II and told the class that he was in 6th grade when the war broke out and explained how his life was impacted. The 92 year old Veteran enjoyed meeting the class and was impressed with their knowledge about World War II. Thank you Mr. Rubano for spending time with our students!
Congratulations Mrs. Braxton!
Congratulations to our 7th grade ELA teacher for being crowned Mrs. Georgia Global Continental!
Attention All 7th grade parents!
Please make sure your child is up to date with their 7th grade immunizations. All students need their pertussis (Tdap) booster and meningitis vaccine. These are given after 6th grade. Once updated, please send your immunization form to the nurse's office.
