Calendar Reminder.. School Photos Wednesday October 13th!

Notes from our Byam Nurse Pool Testing and Test and Stay

Reminder, pool testing will be on Tuesdays. Our testing team will go door-to- door to each classroom and perform a lower anterior nasal swab. Test samples will be placed in a vial and sent to the lab. If a positive test result is obtained, all testers from that vial will be tested again with a Binax rapid antigen test to determine the positive individual. From there, school contact tracing will begin for that positive individual.

As a reminder, pooled testing is only for those who are not experiencing Covid symptoms, so if your child is not feeling well please do not send your child to school or come for testing.

If you would still like to sign your child up for testing, the link is below. Please keep in mind the consent would permit a student to be tested the week following consent. In other words, a parent is not able to sign the consent online and expect their child to be tested in real time on the same day.

I would also encourage you to sign your child up for Test and Stay, which is also in the provided link. In this program, if your child is identified as a close contact to a positive individual from a school exposure, your child may remain in school during their quarantine period provided they are without symptoms and their daily Binax test result is negative. You can find more information about both programs by reading the CPS Covid-19 Health Protocol on our school and district website.

Thank you for considering your child's participation in these testing programs.

Our goal is to to keep our students and staff healthy and safe at school!

Good Health to All,

PBIS at Byam

Each student at Byam receives and expectation passport. We utilize these passports as a visual for students as we teach, practice and demonstrate our 3 R's. Passports get stamped throughout the year as we "tour" our various school locations. Next week we will also be unveiling our new bulletin board that will track our progress for earning roars. As accumulate roars, a piece of the puzzle will be removed to reveal our all school incentive. We've been thrilled with how our students have been respectful, responsible and ready so we are off to a great start!

Library Volunteer Sign Up

Thank you to all to signed up to volunteer in the Byam Library! It has been wonderful to have parents helping. The students and I are grateful for the support, and it allows for a smoother and more fruitful library experience for everyone. It is not too late to sign up. Even if you can only come a few times a year, we'd love to have you! Grandparents are welcome too. Please make sure you have an up-to-date CORI form. If uncertain about your Cori status, please email or call one of our great Byam office staff members Anne Dossin or Stella Murphy to inquire.

School Picture Day Fundraiser

School Picture Day Fundraiser 10/13/2021!

School photos are October 13th! Did you know that school photos are a PTO fundraiser for the whole district? Each school’s PTO receives proceeds from the company that help bring out enrichments to the schools! Members of the BSA were on the search committee last year as we looked to renew/evaluate vendors. We worked to being a new vendor to the district this year! We are excited to work with geskus! Order forms will be sent home soon, and you will have the option to order online.

Spooky Story Contest at Chelmsford Public Library

It’s that time again – our Annual Spooky Story Contest has begun!

We hope all you budding authors in grades K-8 will submit your spookiest, spine-tingling tales to the Children’s Room. Authors may submit one story each, and this year, more than one author can work together on the same story. If co-authors are in different grades, their stories will be judged against other stories by authors in the older grade. Stories may be typed or neatly written, and should be spooky or scary in nature. Stories do not need to be illustrated, but illustrations are allowed, and graphic or comic strip stories are welcome.

Either drop off your story at the Children’s Desk at Chelmsford Public Library, or email it to Amy at areimann@chelmsfordlibrary.org. Winners will be selected from these categories: K-1st grade, 2nd-3rd grade, 4th-5th grade, and middle school. Stories must be submitted by Saturday, October 16th by 5 p.m. to be eligible to win.

Winners will be celebrated at a special Virtual Library celebration on Friday, October 29th!
