Notes from Principal Dra. Cardenas
Some thoughts for the starting school year
Every morning, announcements begin with the Song of the Week chosen by our Music Teacher, Mrs. Dietlin-Anderson. Each day, different facts about the singer are shared before beginning the pledges. Listen to the song with your child and ask him/her what they remember about the singer. If they don't remember, give them the task to remember one fact they hear the following day. Having daily conversations with your child about their school day can help nurture trust and social-emotional skills.
From Principal, Dra. Cárdenas
Esteemed RHE Community,
On this Howdy Week we welcomed a total of 547 students into our classrooms. Seeing their bright eyes, inquisitive look, and big smiles is a joy to every Educator's heart!
This week, a major focus was establishing procedures, routines and expectations in and out of the classroom. It was impressive to see their Bobcat Pride while they followed instructions and demonstrated respect. We look forward to a continued partnership with our RHE parents to provide a safe learning environment for our Bobcats.
Speaking of partnerships, I'm happy to announce that we have partnered with San Benito Wal-Mart for donations throughout the school year. On Thursday, Mr. Bravo, Store Manager, and his team came by to speak to our Emergent Bilingual students and our students in Mrs. Barreda's and Mr. Galvan's classrooms. Wal-Mart handed out 100 backpacks with supplies. They also delivered a variety of pastries for our staff. We are grateful for their generosity and look forward to what is in store for our Bobcats through our partnership. Wal-Mart was not the only community partner at our campus this week! We also had Andi the Armadillo saying "Howdy" to our students on the 1st day of school. Thank you Texas Roadhouse for giving our 1st day of school an extra Texas Howdy touch!
This upcoming week, we look forward to hosting Grandparent's Day. The forms went out this week, along with the Campus Spirit Shirt order form and the Pep Rally permission slip. Please look at the return dates so that your student does not miss the opportunity to participate. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the front office.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! We'll see you back on Monday, bright and early at school before 8:00am, ready to kick-off Week 2!
At Your Service,
Dra. Betty A. Cárdenas
