Weekly AESD Update

Welcome To The 2021-2022 School Year

We are closing off our second week of the new school year. So much learning is taking place in all of our classrooms and we are excited to have you as part of our AESD family!

Thank you to our students, staff and families for your continuous dedication to educational excellence! Please find important info below regarding recent updates.

#AESDconnectED for our children

We are excited to continue our partnership with our cities' police and firefighter departments.

This week, Desert Star School continued with their firefighter mentorship program and mentors shared with students equipment used on the job.

In addition, Michael Anderson School teamed up with Avondale PD to film a safety video that will be shared soon.

A huge thank you to our city for always coming together for our children - the future leaders!

Kids at Hope Art

We are excited to showcase our student's newest art work at both of the Avondale city libraries. Stop by and check out our students' expressions of what it means to be a Kid at Hope.

The date for our annual 2020 Kids at Hope Art Walk is still being determined. Please stay tuned to updates.

AESD Metrics Clarification

We recognize and appreciate the heightened concern demonstrated from our families and staff in these times. Please know that we are providing the most accurate and updated information with confirmed COVID cases. If your child is exposed to a confirmed positive COVID case, a letter will be sent in those situations for your knowledge.

Further, while we have had an increase in positive cases across our district, we are still below half of one percent positivity overall. It is critical that we maximize every opportunity to reduce the transmission and strongly encourage the use of masks while indoors and when social distancing cannot be maintained. That said, it will take ALL of us to remain vigilant in staying home when ill and maintaining our mitigation strategies. The fewer cases positive and transmitted, allow for us to have our students and staff in the classrooms and not at home in isolation and quarantine.

As an additional support for our community, we have take home rapid tests for students or staff experiencing symptoms to facilitate accurate data. We also have rapid testing available to students and staff onsite at almost all of our campuses.

As we navigate forward, we seek your cooperation in eliminating speculation before a case is confirmed. Thank you for your continued support.

Testing opportunities still continue at Copper Trails School through Embry Women's Health.
