Cambridge High School
November 16, 2020
All Students Remote: November 16 - 18, 2020
Following the FCS Closing Matrix, we have met the criteria of a Level 2 at Cambridge High School, and in consultation with Fulton County Board of Health, we are switching to remote learning for seventy-two hours to allow for cleaning of the facilities and contact tracing. Individuals who will be required to quarantine for longer will be notified directly.
Pending confirmation through the contact tracing process, we anticipate school resuming face-to-face instruction on November 19. If circumstances dictate additional steps, we will notify the school community immediately.

First Semester 2020 - Grading Guidance (with changes)
Below is a recap of the grading guidance provided by Fulton County Schools for the first semester, 2020. The recap includes changes that were made during the semester.
General Grading Information:
Students will earn numerical final grades for the course if they complete at least 80% of the course’s summative assignments/assessments based on the following grading scale:
- A – 90 and Above
- B – 80-89
- C – 70-79
- F – 69 and below
- I – Incomplete (If less than 80% of summative assignments/ assessments were completed)
- NG – No grade
Between 9 - 12 Summative assignments/assessment grades will be entered into Infinite Campus and contribute to the end of the semester grade.
Retake Policy:
- 8/17-9/16/2020: Students will be permitted to redo, resubmit, and/or retake summative assignments up to three times for a higher score.
- 9/17-11/1/2020: Students who score 79 or below will be permitted to redo, resubmit, and/or retake summative assignments up to one time for a score up to an 89.
- 11/2-12/18/2020: Students who score 89 or below will be permitted to redo, resubmit, and/or retake summative assignments up to one time for a score up to an 89.
Retakes must be taken by Friday, December 4th, to comply with Board Policy that all work must be turned in 10 days prior to the end of the semester.
Formative assessment grades will be entered into the gradebook but will not have a weight assigned to them and, as such, will not impact the ongoing or end of the semester grade. Formative assessment grades will not be counted towards Incomplete status.
There is a district NO ZERO policy in place, but an “I” for incomplete will be entered into Infinite Campus to communicate to students and parents that an assignment/assessment is missing. As of 11/10/2020, “1”s were put in the gradebook in place of “I”s to inform students and parents of true averages. “I”s will be reentered by December 11th.
Final summatives will be administered during the last week of the semester. This “final” will be another summative; it will not weigh more than other summatives.
Grading Requirements:
Students will need to meet both the academic and the engagement requirements to receive credit for a course.
- Academic: Receive an end of semester grade of 70 or above
- Engagement: Complete 80% of the course summative assignments/assessments
Cambridge High School Earns Highest Graduation Rate in the District
Cambridge High School posted a graduation rate of 98.2 percent, the highest in the district. Five other schools also posted graduation rates above 95 percent: Johns Creek High School (97.3 percent); Milton High School (96.9 percent); Alpharetta High School (96.5 percent); Chattahoochee High School (96.2 percent); and Northview High School (96.1 percent).

College Applications - Deadline Approaching
For college application deadlines of January 1, 2021, through January 8, 2021, the counseling department will need all requests submitted by December 1, 2020. Keep in mind that the counseling office is closed during the holiday break and weekends.
Teachers and counselors require ten (10) school days to process transcript requests, school forms, and recommendation letters. Requesting documents the day of or less than ten school days ahead of when they are due will result in missed deadlines.
Please review these important procedures requesting documents from the Counseling Department and Teacher Recommendations at the link below.
Fulton Virtual and Georgia Virtual Classes
Dual Enrollment Students
Students taking dual enrollment classes at Georgia State University-Perimeter Campus, University of North Georgia, Gwinnett Tech, Lanier Tech, or any college except Young Harris will need to submit a copy of their spring college class schedule to their counselor as soon as they enroll. Please follow the college's process for registering and abide by their deadlines. All DE students need to get prior approval and submit the Advisement Form to their counselor before registration.
Once registered, the counseling department will need a copy of the student's college schedule to add the class to his/her Cambridge schedule and approve funding for the class in GaFutures. Failure to submit the schedule to your counselor will result in you getting a tuition and books bill from the college.
