Tell us about your Family/Pets
I have 2 daughters, 5 grandkids (4 boys, 1 girl) and 3 great-grandkids. They all live in North Carolina.
I grew up a military brat. My Daddy was stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. He was a paratrooper in the 82nd Ariborne Division. In December 1963 he was killed while serving, he was 38 years old.
What are your hobbies?
I go to sporting events both at Knox and the high school.
Share a fun fact:
I like to play pitch and Bid Whist (card games). Basketball is my favorite sport. I played forward and had a scholarship to go to junior college but I was drafted into the Army, I served from 1966-1976. I was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. When I got out of the Army my step-dad told me I should come to Galesburg. He was a Green Beret and worked at Knox College as an ROTC instructor.
My favorite song is "If you don't know me by now," every time it comes on the radio I cut off the dish machine and sing along.
What is one goal you hope to accomplish this year?
My goal is to make it to 2020 and then think about retiring. I would move to North Carolina to spend time with my kids and grandkids.
What is your community involvement outside of Knox?
I attend high school games. My drill sargeant told me not to volunteer for anything!
What is your favorite Knox College Memory?
My friend Sam comes back for Homecoming to see if I'm still here. I met him while he was a student at Knox. We both liked the same NFL team, the Redskins.
I like to joke around, that's why the students like me, they never know what I'm gonna say. I always tell the students they have to realize where they started from. In your future remember where you came from.
