Miss Miles' First Grade
Syring Elementary
All about Miss Miles
I have been teaching in Swartz Creek since 2012. After graduating from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education I spent the school year of 2010-2011 as a long term substitute in three different grade levels in the Flushing school district and the Grand Blanc school district as well. I was then hired the following year as a 7th and 8th grade Mathematics teacher. I love teaching and working with children everyday, it is a passion I have had all of my life! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share your children with you and for letting me a part of their growth and learning. It truly is amazing and rewarding every day!

Family Project
Today, your child is bringing home a bunny. I would like you to cut out and decorate this bunny as a family project and return it by Wednesday, April 16th. All of the bunnies will be displayed in the hallway for everyone to see! The bunny can be decorated in any way you would like. Be creative with anything you have around the house - fabric, glitter, sequins, paint, cotton balls, bows, noodles, cereal, etc. I hope your family will have fun working together on this project. If you have any questions or need supplies like construction paper or glue, please feel free to ask!
Field Trip
Please look for a permission slip to be coming home, Tuesday, April 1st. We need your permission to allow your child to attend the Monday, April 21st presentation of the educational movie, "Bears". Both first grade classes are attending. We need a final count by Friday, April 4th, since we are off on spring break the following week. This opportunity presented itself just this week and only one presentation was left to attend. Thus, we need your commitment to go to be accounted for by Friday, April 4th and no later. Unfortunately, we will have to assume that you are not attending if we do not receive your confirmation by this date. Monies will not be collected until we return after spring break, however, the cost for parents or adult chaperones is $7.75 which includes viewing, popcorn and a beverage. PTO is paying for our students. We will leave the school at about 8:50 a.m. and return at approximately 11:15 a.m. Because this is an educational opportunity for our students, we are asking that other siblings not attend. This way the children can be mindfully listening to the curricular content which is our focus. Thank you in advance for responding promptly to this opportunity.
