TUESDAY, MARCH 20, 2018
All 11th grade students will be participating in the state mandated ACT testing on Tuesday, March 20th. In addition, March 20th will be an eLearning day for 9th, 10th, and 12th graders. 9th, 10th and 12th graders will be given an online assignment to be completed at home and are not required to come to school on Tuesday, March 20th. So again, on Tuesday March 20th, only Juniors should report to school for ACT testing.
The remaining information pertains to our 11th grade students only and the testing procedures for Tuesday, March 20th:
All JUNIORS should report to their assigned rooms in the Math & English Hallways at the first bell at 8:20 a.m. The assigned rooms are the same rooms students reported to for the ACT pretest & registration.
All Juniors will be taking the ACT Plus Writing on Tuesday, March 20th. Students should bring several #2 wooden pencils and an approved calculator. Students received a printout of the ACT calculator policy which can also be found online at www.act.org. Additionally, all juniors should bring a state issued photo ID. This can be a driver's permit, driver's license, or an Alabama identification card.
Juniors should leave all electronic devices, book bags, and purses at home - these items are not allowed in the testing rooms and will be collected by school personnel prior to the students entering the room. Any devices collected will be stored outside the testing room for the entire duration of testing.
It is very important that all 11th graders who have registered for the ACT this week are present on Tuesday, March 20th. If your child does not pre-register prior to March 20th, he/she will not be allowed to take the ACT Plus Writing on the 20th.
Students who have ACT approved accommodations will NOT test on Tuesday, March 20th. The accommodations window will open on April 3rd so these students will test on the ACT + Writing make-up day which is Tuesday, April 3rd.
Juniors who drive or have a ride, will be free to leave after they are released from testing. Lunch will be available for any student who wishes to purchase a lunch. The buses will only run at 3:30 p.m.

CONGRATULATIONS GRACE COLLINS, 2018 STATE OUTSTANDING CHORAL STUDENT
Congratulations to Grace Collins, the 2018 State Outstanding Choral student, the first ever from any Madison County School. The title of State Outstanding Choral Student is the highest honor a choral student can achieve in Alabama. State-level contestants first had to win at the district level. At both the state level and district level, contestants had to prepare a resume, write an essay, obtain letters of recommendation, perform a vocal solo, and be interviewed by a panel of judges. Along with being given the title of OCS, which is esteemed among choral students and directors, Grace will also receive a $1000 scholarship to the university of her choice.

Sign Up to Round Up!
The Round Up Program was started by The Schools Foundation and Huntsville Utilities to support local public school systems. The Schools Foundation is a funding partner of Madison County Schools. The more residential and commercial locations that round up, the more funding we can receive. Estimates show that if just half of the residential Huntsville Utilities users rounded up, it would generate approximately $500,000 to support our schools! By rounding up your utility bill to the nearest dollar each month, you help invest in the future of our students!
You can easily sign up to round up online:
http://www.hsvutil.org/myhsvu…/checkbill/roundup/signup.html
It might be a penny, it might be 25 cents, it might be 99 cents, but it will be no more than $11.88 a year. It takes less than 1 minute to fill out.
Thank you for supporting one of our community partners! Go Bucks!
