Family Update

Davis Middle School

Friday, September 23, 2022

Dear Davis Families,

As I am finally sitting down to type out this short message at 3:40 PM on a Friday, I am reminded of how full of a week we had at Davis! Learning, activities, fun, laughter, athletic events, club meetings...our students and staff packed so much in to five days. It was good to add one more week to such a great start to the school year. It's hard to believe that we are only 3 weeks away from the end of the 1st quarter.

Below you will find new information on: district clubs available to our students, picture retakes, PTO's big fundraiser, and information from the district.

Finally, we would like to send a shout-out to Mr. Bret Ray. Coach Ray has coached football for 34 years and is hanging up his whistle this year. He coached a home game for the last time on Wednesday and the team sent him off with a huge win. Congratulations Coach Ray! Thank you for all of your years of service to DMS teams.

I hope you all have a great weekend. Go Irish!

Jaime

Picture Absentee/Retake Day

Picture absentee/retake day will be next Thursday, September 29, in the Media Center. We hope to have all pictures taken during 1st and 2nd periods (we will call students down per grade level). If students who did not have their pictures taken on August 19 need an order form, we have some available in the main office.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

The Fall Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, September 29 from 3:30-7 pm and on Thursday, October 6 from 4-7:30 pm. Conferences are primarily held virtually.

As a reminder, due to the volume of students that middle school teachers have on their rosters, not all students will need, require, or have a parent/teacher conference. Teachers will reach out to those of you that they would like to meet with, and you may also contact your student's teacher to request a conference. Some of the conferences will be held with a team of teachers while others may be individual teachers.

Please know that you are welcome to reach out to your students' teachers by email anytime you have a concern, as you don't have to wait until conferences to do so.

Students that are interested in joining Dublin Taiko must sign up by October 9. Please follow this link for more information: https://www.dublintaiko.com/information--forms.html
