Mrs. Gardner's Homeroom

Room 103 Week of Oct 17th

What we are learning

Wow I can't believe we are nearing the end of the first quarter already! This year is flying by.

This week in math students will be taking an assessment on prime, composite, factors, and multiples. We will then be working on a remediation/enrichment plan for 1st quarter. Students will be working on the skills they still need extra practice on and completing enrichment activities for those that they understand.

This week we will be reading a variety of greek myths. Students will be learning to determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including those that allude to significant characters found in mythology (e.g., Herculean)

The will also be Comparing and Contrasting the themes of myths.

Social Studies

Students will begin learning about Native American tribes in North Carolina. They will be reading about tribes of the Coastal Regions of NC. We will wrap up our unit on Native Americans with a collaborative project.

Students participated in a cooperative learning activity called showdown in which they worked to review problems that involved finding factors.

Field Trip Chaperones

I sent an email out to all of the parents who indicated they would like to be a chaperone for our upcoming field trip on November 19th. If you did not recieve that email and would like to be a chaperone please contact me.

4th grade is going to be participating in SOCKTOBER this year! Our goal is to have 700 pairs of socks donated this month. They will be donated to a nearby shelter. How can you help? Send in new socks (any size)!
