Quist ROYALS Weekly News
October 7, 2022
Hello, ROYALS!
As we reflect and enter the final days of the first quarter, we have so many things to be thankful for.
You may recall when I shared a few months ago to help address our staffing shortages we began recruiting interested candidates obtaining a J1 Visa sponsorship. I am ecstatic to welcome Mildred Sue to the ROYALS Community. After a journey of more than 7,000 miles and months of paperwork, Ms. Suh was able to meet some of the ROYALS this week and begin preparing lesson plans for teaching STEAM as soon as she is officially licensed for teaching in Colorado. We are glad she will be joining us soon!
This week, we were also able to welcome our 2022/2023 National Junior Honor Society inductees. Please join us in congratulating these ROYALS on this wonderful accomplishment.
Our girls B-Team won the Championship Thursday. It is was back and forth and a tight match with many long volleys. And our Royals prevailed.
As we prepare for fall conferences this upcoming week it is also a time of evaluation and reflection on our performance to date. This year, our unified improvement plan focus is on our Learning Environments. This is the foundation for success within the community. Providing a Learning Environment that is safe, productive and effective. Through historical feedback, and evaluation of lessons learned we made changes to our practices with regards to discipline, cell phones and adherence/consistency to set practices. With that in mind, we invite you to participate in our fall Parent Culture & Climate Survey. This data is an important tool we use to evaluate change made and ensure we are meeting your expectations. Your support in completing this brief survey is appreciated.
Heartfelt thanks to members of our parent group have made it their mission to stock our staff lounge with awesome snacks and treats. This was an amazing and welcomed surprise for our teachers.

Your Vote Counts 2022! Is Your Voter Registration Current?
We are writing to encourage all of you to vote in this fall’s mid-term election!
Please check your voter registration to be sure that your voter registration is current, or if you are new to Colorado, register to vote. Colorado is a mail in ballot state and your address must be correct for you to receive your ballot.
You can check your voter registration information and/or register to vote at http://www.govotecolorado.com/.
Ballots will be mailed out the week of October 17th, so don’t delay in visiting the Go Vote Colorado website above! 27J Schools has a mill levy override question (5B) on the ballot. We encourage you to read your sample ballot available to you on this website, do your research on the issues and candidates, and vote!
As you know, 27J Schools had a bond and a mill levy override question on the ballot last November. The bond was successful. The mill levy override was not.
Of the 75,213 registered voters in 27J Schools boundaries, only 26,242 or 34.89% voted in last November’s election. See the election summary here.
The Go Vote Colorado website is very user friendly. Updating your voter information or registering to vote takes just minutes. All you need to register to vote is your Social Security Number or your Colorado Driver’s License.
Please attend our Tuesday PAC meeting to hear someone from Iam27J to discuss the mill levy.

WEB Fall Festival, we need your help!
We cannot run events without the help of our community! Please consider signing up. We like to offer early/late shifts and there is an option to sign up to help the whole time, if you're able to.
Please email/contact Candie Petersen (cpetersen@sd27j.net or 720-507-7823) if you have any questions. We will plan to do a quick volunteer check in at about 5:10 to meet each other and touch base about the different roles and get any questions answered.
Meal Chat Week Four
Fountains and Drains have two opposite functions: fountains overflow with water while drains remove the water completely. In relationships with others, most people are usually a fountain or a drain — they either flow and overflow onto others, or they just
drain people of their energy.. They either refresh the life in others or they dry it up. This week's meal chat looks at having an attitude that refreshes and fills others up.
