Spring Concert

What a success! Thank you all for coming to the concert. The kids had a blast and so did the adults. Please see the videos of the songs that kindergarten sang. Please do NOT be too critical of the filming, my family came to watch my 10 year old daughter filmed while I was on stage watching the kids. Thank you for your understanding!

Celebrating Schools in the Athol Royalston Regional School District

Mr. Grosky takes pictures and showcases a lot of events happening in the district. He added some great pictures of the spring concert. Thank you Mr. Grosky!

Highlights from last week....

We had a visit from the Athol Public Librarian this week to talk about the wonderful summer reading program. The theme is Super Heroes! The children went wild when she mentioned the theme! The program is free and the library has air conditioning! Looks like I know where I will be spending a lot of my time this summer!

We also spent most of our week reviewing our skills that we have learned this year. We read several fairy tales! We also worked on letter formations, sentence structure and short vowels. We learned ALL about whales this week! In math we finished our final module! The kids also completed their final MAP test! EVERY child showed growth!

A peek at our learning this week....

This week will be a week of review! We will work on any reading strategies that we are having trouble with. The children will choose their favorite books for us to read for our read alouds.

For math, we will also use this week as a week of review. We will work on any math strategies that we are having troubles with. The math centers this week will be chosen by the children!

In Science, we will be continuing our Ocean unit. Our focus this week will be seahorses and crabs!

We will have a reading recess on Thursday from 1:30-2:30. A notice with the details went home with your child. The children will be able to read their new books with their grown ups. I will also use this time to give you your child's portfolio and also the DVD that I made for each child of their journey through kindergarten.

June Homework

We will not be sending home our usual homework packets. I will send home a book for your child to practice and some practice math sheets. Please work with your child on these. Please send back the math homework on Friday. Thank you in advance!

Many of you have asked for different ways to practice sight words with your child. I found this website with some ideas. I hope it helps!
