Unit 3: Literary Opinion
We are beginning week two of the Literary Essay. This week the students will continue to closely read their chosen passage, carefully analyzing the motivations, struggles, traits, changes and/or relationships of a particular character. They will learn how to create a thesis statement from an opinion they have about the character and how to identify important parts of the text to support their thesis.
This Week in Reading
Unit 3: Fiction
This week in reading, we have been working on inferring themes from traditional literature fiction. We have written many responses to our reading this week. The students have been enjoying great fiction stories that include myths, folktales, and fairy tales. Ask your children what they have enjoyed learning this week in reading class. You will most definitely be pleasantly surprised!
I have emailed all parents this week to remind you to go to the home connect for AR to continue to monitor your child's progress towards their weekly reading goals. I have pasted the website within that email. Please continue to have your child read nightly for at least 35 minutes.
Thank you so much for your support!
