back in time

On Wednesday, Year 3 visited Murton Park (Yorkshire Museum of Farming in York) as part of their learning challenge 'Who lived in Britain First?'. They spent the day in a Stone Age village, and to add to the experience they were provided with Stone Age costumes. The children were able to complete a number of fun tasks including:

  • making stone age pots from clay
  • hunting practice using spears
  • farming using stone age tools
  • cave painting
They really enjoyed their visit and it was described as the "best school trip ever" by one of the children.

Signs of Spring in hackfall Woods

On Tuesday, Reception had their Spring visit to Hackfall Woods, to continue looking at how the woods change throughout the seasons. The bluebells didn't let us down - neither did the weather! The colours were lush and vibrant, the sun shone, and the children were brilliantly behaved.

On your marks......Sports day

Arrangements for sports day this year are as follows:

  • Nursery & Reception - Thursday 26th May at 9.30am.
  • Years 1 - 6 - Friday 27th May at 1.30pm.

Looking on the bright side and assuming the weather will be dry and sunny, please don't forget to send your children with sun hats, sun cream and a water bottle.

Nursery places for September

We still have some spaces available in our Nursery for September. If you know of anyone who is interested please encourage them to contact school. If you have any links to a business who would be happy to display a poster for us please speak to Sharon Pepper.

SATS week

Well done to all our Year 6 children, who dealt with the SATS in an incredibly mature and sensible way. We are very proud of them all. Thank you to all the staff who organised the SATS breakfast club for the children, it gave them a really good, relaxed start to the day. Next challenge for our Year 6's is the end of year production!

School Uniform

As we fast approach the end of the school year and thoughts start turning to purchasing new uniform for next year, we thought it appropriate to share with you our school uniform policy which has recently been agreed by Governors. There are no changes to the uniform but please can we ask you to refresh yourselves on the items required such as grey or white socks / tights and sensible black shoes appropriate for school. As the summer approaches girls may wear the green and white gingham dresses and boys can wear short grey trousers. We would also like to remind you that if you have any issues with providing the appropriate uniform for your child, then the Friends have a large supply of quality items available. Please feel free to speak to a member of the committee or contact the school office for more information.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the Summer Fayre tomorrow
