In Case You Missed It:
Welcome Felicia Wickes to the Stallion Family! Felicia will be joining our 8th grade team tomorrow to teach 8th grade science. Thank you to Gracie Williams, Cindy Quiggle, and all the 8th grade teachers for ensuring teaching and learning continued in the science classrooms on that hallway.
Shout out goes to Miranda Colwell, Bonnie Marshall, and Ashley Inman for taking the responsibility of Pennies for Patients after Shane left. In Stallion Family style, these three swooped in and kept the ball from hitting the ground. Thank you ladies!
We are still searching for a 7th grade math teacher. But do not fear...Coach DJ and our Seventh Grade Team continues to ensure our students on that team are receiving math instruction and support daily. Our math teachers are using Google Classroom, videos, and pushing into different cores to ensure our students learn the required curriculum. If you know anyone certified in math looking for a job or wanting a change, please send them this way.
The Second Annual FitFest was a success thanks to SLHS's Academy of Hospitality, our amazing PE Department, and student participants. I went over during the award ceremony and was able to witness an extremely well organized event and outstanding sportsmanship from all schools.
Please keep 8th grade math teacher, Katie Kline and family in your thoughts and prayers. She lost her maternal grandmother on Saturday.
Zach Horner, AVID elective teacher, has agreed to take over the morning announcements beginning this week. I will do announcements on Monday and Tuesday and Zach will take over Wednesday. Please send any information you need to communicate with the school to zhorner.slms@lee.k12.nc.us by 11 am the day before you need it to begin airing on our YouTube channel. Make sure to include what you want announced and the dates for it to be included. Remember: It is an expectation that announcements be played each morning sometime during homeroom (7:40-7:50 am) to ensure all students know what is going on at SLMS. It is recommended that all staff take time to watch to also be in the loop.
