Sixth Grade Newsletter
November 11, 2018
Dear Parents,
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend parent-teacher conferences. We enjoy working with you and your students.
English
We will finish Refugee early in the week and do some writing and research based on the novel.
We will continue writing, learning root words, and practicing grammar each day. There will be a quiz on Friday.
We will be writing to sixth-grade students in different parts of the world to introduce ourselves and ask questions. Their teachers will be sending their introductions soon. This is a great way for us to practice real-life writing skills and learn about other cultures. Our partner classes are in France, the Czech Republic, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Enrichment Writing
Math
Last week, students took the Chapter 2 Test on Monday and Tuesday. We are now working on Chapter 3: Rational Numbers.
Enrichment Math
Students focused on solving multistep equations in enrichment math.
Social Studies
Science
We started our Cell Unit last week. We are currently looking at the plant and animal cell and the parts that make them up. We will spend the next week and a half working on learning the parts and their functions. This unit has A LOT of new vocabulary that the students will have not heard before so we will be using a variety techniques to help them learn all of these new words.
