PROUD to be!
Our new weekly section highlighting staff members and their contributions making FMS a first-class, student-centered building.
Nathan Rockow showed me how to sync my classes in Schoology. This has already saved me a ton of time! - Kevin H.
Scott Bruns for keeping us in the loop with SLC information.
Staff shout out for Michaela Raney coaching and officiating volleyball at the same time on Thursday against her hometown team.
Team 802 would like to send a “Shout Out” to Ms. Holland Kane. Her dedication to the students is amazing. At any given moment you can find Ms. Holland on a knee helping students with their work, answer questions for students when the teacher is working with another student, keeping an eye out for the ever persistent YouTube watcher, or simply modeling ideal citizenship with a basic "hello" in passing. We on Team 802 truly do recognize her commitment and are happy she is a part of our school. Way to be “FALCON STRONG” Ms. Holland.
Thank you Ms. Zwagerman and Mrs Sheehy for tackling the staff photo display case.
I would like to give a shout out to Alicia for all of her help with the Fab lab and helping teachers integrate technology in the classroom. Excellent work!
ALL STAFF for making the Back-to-School night a success.
Building Goal #3 - PRIDE
Nominate a fellow teacher! We have so much to be proud of - let the rest of the world know!
Advisory - just so you remember why!

Teaching Tolerance
Teaching Tolerance is coming to Minneapolis, Minnesota! Our teaching and learning team will host two daylong workshops this month.
- Social Justice Teaching 101 On September 28, learn how to effectively implement culturally responsive instruction in your classroom.
- Facilitating Critical Conversations On September 29, learn how to talk openly about the historical roots and contemporary manifestations of social inequality and discrimination.
These workshops are ideal for K–12 classroom teachers and administrators or those who work with or coach classroom teachers and administrators. Join us for one or both!
The cost of each workshop is $35, which covers the workshop materials, coffee, lunch and a certificate of completion for credit hours. Group rates are available.
If you can't make it to the Minneapolis workshops, we're also making stops in Orlando and Houston. We'll announce locations for our next round of workshops later this year.
Space is limited—register today! Don’t miss the opportunity to learn from the experts and to network with educators who, like you, are committed to diversity, equity and justice.

Lowe's Charitable and Education Foundation
The Lowe's Charitable and Education Foundation has announced the opening of its Fall 2018 Toolbox for Education, which supports projects that encourage parent involvement in local schools and build stronger community spirit. To that end, one-year grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded in support of projects such as facility enhancement (indoor or outdoor) or landscaping/clean-up projects that have a permanent impact on a school community. In addition, Toolbox grants can be used as part of a large-scale project like a new playground build, as long as the grant funds are used to complete a phase of the project that can be completed within twelve months of the award.
To be eligible for a grant, applicants must be a public K-12 school or nonprofit parent group associated with a public K-12 school. Parent groups that are applying (PTO, PTA, etc.) must have an independent EIN and official 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Preschools are not eligible. The application process will be closed after fifteen hundred applications have been received.
Complete application instructions and program guidelines, as well as lists of past grant recipients, are available on the Toolbox for Education website.
