School Happenings

You are Invited! Maple Dale Harvest Parade

Parents and Grandparents, Please join us next Wednesday, October 31st for the Harvest Parade. The parade will commence at 2:30, with the route stretching around the entire exterior of our school. Guests should feel free to take a viewing spot along the route. We will make two complete “loops” so that everyone can see their student twice, beginning on the playground, around the front sidewalk of the school, around the back of the school and around again. Look for the Maple Dale staff’s costumes honoring their favorite characters from books!

As parking is always an issue, consider parking at the Presbyterian Church on ZigZag and make the short walk to Maple Dale. Or, the field in front of the District Offices will be open for you to park on. Once the parade is over, parents may choose to take students home. Please make sure you sign them out in the office as you leave.

In the case of inclement weather, the parade will take place inside the gym.

We can’t wait to see the kids and their costumes!

Lost & Found

Parents,

We have a good amount of items in our lost and found. Please have a look through the items during conferences, at which time, if things are still left in the lost and found, they will be donated to Matthew 25.

We recommend you put your student's name on the following items to avoid them being put in the lost and found:

  • coats

  • shoes

  • water bottles

  • lunch boxes

  • anything of importance or value

We try really hard to return items back to their owners, however, a name on the item would make it so much easier.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Help Wanted:

We are looking for a chair for Family Fun Night! Responsibilities would include choosing and securing a venue (in the past we have used Castle Skateland) and organizing the event. There is already a group of volunteers ready to help out! Contact PTO Board Co-VP of Programs Jennifer Phoenix at jenford02@yahoo.com if you are interested or have any questions!

Glow Run Success - Thank you!!

On behalf of the Maple Dale PTO Board, we want to thank all of our students, families, faculty and friends for supporting our Second Annual Maple Dale Glow Run on Friday! With your help, we raised over $27,000, a new record! We want to extend an extra thank you to Joe Fieler, the chair of the Glow Run this year, to Becky Gohr, our PTO Board Treasurer who worked countless hours handling the donations, to our dedicated and enthusiastic Fine Arts Team of Mr. Schneider, Mrs. Smith, Mr. Conklin, and Mr. Chaney, and to all of the volunteers who helped count money, set-up and clean-up for the run, and who made the day of the Glow Run such a success! We couldn't have done it without you!

My Energy Kit Challenge has started!

Our school is taking the My Energy Kit Challenge and has a goal to save at least 20,000 kilowatt-hours of energy. That’s like taking 40 cars off the road for a whole year! We’ll reach this goal when at least 100 families sign up for a FREE Energy Kit from Duke Energy and use it to make their homes energy efficient. These FREE kits contain items like LED bulbs, faucet aerators and other useful gadgets that can make a big difference toward saving energy at home. When we meet the challenge, our school will automatically win $250. Let’s get a head-start! You can take the My Energy Kit Challenge and sign up for your FREE kit now at MyEnergyKit.org or call 1-855-386-9548.

Have you already received a My Energy Kit? Do you still want to help your school receive free money? Great! Even if you have requested and received a kit before, you can request again and your request will count towards your schools goal of 100 energy efficiency kits. If they get to 100 kits they receive 250 dollars! So help your school out and request your kit today, even if you have already received one.

Veteran's Day Celebration

Thank You to the men and women that have served and currently serving our country. We wish to extend a special invitation to the veterans who are family members of our students. If you are a veteran, or are currently in the service, fill out this survey by October 31st. For the families and friends of other veterans that you wish to honor, please be prepared to share a copy of a photo or drawing of that veteran and send it with your child on the assigned paper that will be sent home.

Flight Fest Success!

Thank you to our families who made it out to the J.H. Flight Fest this year. It was great weather with lots of excitement in the air. Food and festivities afterwards made it a HUGE success!
