SHIELD Testing
As a reminder, we anticipate that Woodland's optional SHIELD Testing for staff and students will begin next week. We are very excited to offer this service, as we believe it will help us identify cases early and help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our learning community. This will be especially helpful in identifying positive cases in individuals who are asymptomatic to quickly initiate quarantine and contact tracing procedures.
Please be aware that when we begin SHIELD Testing, we expect to uncover positive cases. If your child tests positive, you will be contacted directly. If you see an increase in notifications sent home in the first few weeks of SHIELD Testing, please don't be alarmed. This doesn't mean that cases are spiking, it just means that we are finding the cases that would have gone undetected until those individuals began to show symptoms.
Students will be tested once a week through a saliva sample, and results will be available within 24-hours. This test will be done at no cost to the families or the school district.
Weekly Testing Schedule:
- Monday - Woodland Primary (Testing will begin Monday, Sept. 13 because of the Labor Day holiday)
- Tuesday - Woodland Intermediate and District Office
- Wednesday - Woodland Middle School
- Thursday - Woodland Elementary and Transportation

Upcoming Student Assessments
September will be a busy month with some our annual KIDS and MAP assessments, as well as two assessments we postponed from last school year. Below is a summary of the assessments taking place over the next four weeks and the grade levels testing. Assessments with an * indicate a state or federally mandated assessment.
Woodland COVID-19 Dashboard Updated Daily
Woodland created a COVID-19 Dashboard to help stakeholders understand the impact of the virus specific to Woodland. Please check the dashboard daily to see case counts for students and staff. This is a live document and the data will be updated throughout the day as new cases are confirmed.
The COVID-19 dashboard provides a big picture view of COVID-19 cases in our Woodland learning community. More specific information will be shared at the school or classroom level if your child was potentially impacted by a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19.
