PANTHER PROGRESS
January 2023 Issue 5
MESSAGE FROM ADMINISTRATION
Hello Lincoln Family,
Happy 2023! We are excited to have all of our 619 students back from winter break and we are especially excited for this year in particular as it will be our school’s 100th year anniversary! Beyond our commentative school display case at our walker door entrance, we are Panther Proud of our school and the history it has navigated over this past century. Outside of being the first Black/African American high school in Frederick County, this school and its beautiful commUNITY has had to overcome much adversity to get to where we are today. As a staff, we say that our school was built on PRIDE and PERSEVERANCE, traits that we continue to carry-on today. As we go into 2023, let’s not forget where we’ve come from 100 years ago and even last year, continuing to find the daily "small wins" while serving a Lincoln CommUNITY that we adore.
Together.
Much Lincoln Love!
Eric Rhodes - Principal
Mary Beth Smith - Assistant Principal

The team works closely with students, staff, and families, to grow a learning community where all members are healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged to be their best self. The three major areas of focus at Lincoln are:
Teaching and practicing emotional awareness and emotional regulation.
Developing and maintaining healthy relationships, which includes the use of restorative practices to help all members learn to communicate effectively and resolve conflicts in a positive and productive manner.
Instructing students, staff, and families about the role of the brain in learning in order to increase student independence and academic stamina
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: At Lincoln, we are working together to help students develop skills for life. Social responsibility is about learning how to understand and work with others in safe and healthy ways.
Part of Social Responsibility is learning how to cooperate with others. You can click HERE to go to the page of the counselor website with videos we created about being a leader, and learning skills for cooperation in many different areas of school and life.
This website has multiple resources for students and families. It also has videotaped lessons we use with students and parent videos that explain our emotional regulation program.
