Our Path Note Topic
The Academic Pillar Team has been working toward revising primary grade report cards. The revisions include aligning the report cards to the PA State Standards. The alignment will provide a report to parents about the level of progress towards mastery of grade level standards.
Next up will be Grades 2 and 3. As we move into grades 4 & 5, we will explore at least changing the skills reporting that accompanies our currnet A-F grade reporting and possibly doing more than that. This will help families better understand the progress their child is making and where they need extra support. By aligning them more closely with the state standards, families will hopefully better see the alignment within a grade level and also across the grade levels as their child matriculates.
Report Cards are difficult to change sometimes, because there is so much foundation. The foundation is the tradition of parents, grandparents, and the rest of us who survived and thrived in the current system. It is the frozen system that has been in place for a long, long time. The Academic Pillar Team is looking at unfreezing that foundation, making the changes, and refreezing the new foundation.

Piece of the Puzzle
This Week's Piece of the Puzzle is Suzi Delarnoux, a therapist in the WASHS Inspire classroom.
Suzi is an excellent communicator who has developed strong relationships with the learners in the program as well as with their families. She excels at keeping administration informed on the needs of the program, staff, and learners. She leads the team in providing relevant opportunities that support learners towards meeting their goals. Additionally, Suzi is a resource for the rest of the building by checking in with learners who have fully transitioned out of the Inspire program. Suzi is also highly qualified in grief and loss counseling and she has met with WASHS learners who were in need of those services until other supports could be put in place. We are very lucky to have her!
Join us in congratulating Suzi Delarnoux as this week's Piece of the Puzzle!
New Policies
Suggested revisions and new policies come from the PA School Board Association, board members, staff, administration, and others. The proposed policy goes to the Policy Committee for review. The Policy Committee will either approve the proposed policy to go to full board for review and adoption, or will deny or wait for a different time to revisit it.
Even though it will not be weekly, stay tuned for any new and/or recently adopted policies in this section.
