Principal's Message - Reopening Plan
This week, an email was sent to you from our Superintendent Pat Atkins regarding reopening plans (see link below). I want to reiterate that as we plan for a return, we are committed to the health and safety of our school community.
Currently, we are in the midst of developing a full-day schedule that will keep our grade level cohorts together for breaks, snack, and lunch times. In addition, we are refining our arrival and dismissal procedures so that we can get students to the busses and awaiting cars efficiently.
Your support of this plan is critical. We will count on families to continue to screen their children before sending them to school. We will expect families to keep students at home when they are showing symptoms of illness. At the same time, if students become sick at school, we need families to have plan in place in the event that their child is sent home with an illness.
Of course, we realize not all our families are comfortable with having their child on campus within a full-time model. Know that joining our distance learning program is an option. Likewise, if your child is currently distance learner and you feel that your child may be ready to come back to our in-person instruction, we will happily welcome them back. In this case, first through fourth graders will most likely keep the same teacher that they have for distance learning.
We value your input as we finalize the reopening plan and I encourage you to call me or email me with any questions or concerns. Please know the school board will be discussing this matter this coming Tuesday, March 9th at 6:00pm in the Pinewood School Gym. Note that this location has changed due to expected weather. The public is invited to attend this meeting.
Please look for correspondence to come home next week with concrete details of the district full-time reopening.
As always, I thank you for being a member of this educational partnership. We are excited about this next next phase.
Sincerely,
Kim Little
