Real Talk: HBCU Edition

College Board is hosting a virtual event for students considering a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) for their future. This Real Talk event is the perfect opportunity to hear directly from the source and gain the insight you need to help students and their families as they decide which of the 100+ HBCUs across the country should be added to their college lists.

Trane Technician of the Future Scholarship

The Trane Technician of the Future Scholarship provides essential financial support for aspiring HVAC or controls technicians launching their career, and will engage a diverse pool of students.

The Mathematics Department recognizes outstanding senior math students by awarding the Ellen Temkin Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a current West High senior. To apply, submit your application and essay by Thursday March 17, 2022 to Jason Townsend. No late applications will be accepted. Questions, see Mooney or Judd in the Math Department.

Pi Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma
Application Deadline: Monday, April 11th
Pi Chapter will be awarding grants-in-aid to female students who plan to pursue a college degree preparing for a career in education.

The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis
Application Deadline: April 15th
Applications are now being accepted for the sixth class of BJC Scholars! This $12,000 renewable scholarship will be awarded to up to 13 graduating high school seniors in the class of 2022 from communities served by BJC HealthCare. Additionally, they have created an informational video for the BJC Scholars Fund, which may be viewed on their YouTube channel here.

Optimist International Oratorical Contest
March and April 2022
This contest can allow a candidate to gain up to $22,500 of scholarships for post-secondary education. The contest is a single topic multi-stage (presentation ) format. Training videos are available to help the contestant.

Join Mentors 4 College for a brief webinar on Thursday, February 10 to get answers to these questions related to standardized testing and college admissions!

SUMMER OPPORTUNITY
Application Deadline: Friday, March 11th
This five-day overnight camp is for Missouri high school rising seniors who are interested in a career in medicine. Students will attend lectures and do the same Patient Based Learning (PBL) curriculum that their medical students do. This is a great experience for anyone who is considering medical school after college. The cost for this camp is $650 which includes all the camp fees, lodging, and food for five days. The application requires a transcript and science teacher recommendation. Some scholarships available.

RESEARCH OPPORTUNITY
Application Deadline for Spring Cohort: February 14th
Lumiere is a program where talented high school students work with world-class researchers on independent research projects. These projects can be in fields as varied as humanities, STEM, social sciences, AI, and business. Students have published their research and submitted to selective research competitions to get into schools like MIT, Stanford, and Harvard.
